I was so happy to discover a local roastery just around the corner from where I live!

Fantastic and super sweet staff (shout out to Katy!) and I love the industrial yet somehow cozy interior ((love that wall mural)). Keane and Brandon have been so nice to me; during the COVID-19 shutdown, I began their coffee subscription (um, FREE DELIVERY FOR LOCALS) and not only is there a 10% discount if you sign up, but their service has been more than accommodating. I misunderstood the initial delivery times and when I inquired, not only did they sincerely apologize (I was the dummy), they offered me a complimentary bag of coffee. I tried to refuse, as it wasn't my intention to get free stuff, but they included it anyway in my delivery AND threw in an awesome tote bag and some super cool stickers. Way too nice!

On top of that, the coffee is thoughtfully roasted and tasty. I get the Mountain Music blend, as I prefer a medium roast, but their single origins are...

Edit: stopped in and they just updated to their fall line up with some really unique drinks! I tried the Oh my Yam! Latte. Which was perfectly balanced and not too sweet. It’s made with a house made Sweet Potato, ginger and black Walnut syrup and finished with a marshmallow whipped cream on top. Definitely a must try.

What a great location and setting. You can tell they took careful thought in the layout of the cafe and seating with plenty of places to sit. You can also watch the roasting happen as you get some work done on their high speed WiFi. But the star was the seasonal drink I tried the perfect balanced drink not too sweet and the coffee really shines through with the perfect extraction and roasting. Plus the waitstaff was so cheerful I was there for awhile getting work done and I just couldn’t stop smiling at the interactions between the baristas and customers. I definitely will make a point to stop in here anytime I’m in...

I have visited this location only once, but I subscribe to their coffee service by mail and thus drink Crucible very regularly. They are one of the better (if not the best) roasters in the valley, consistently producing excellent results. I prefer lighter roasted, single origin coffees, and I've never been disappointed with the 15 or 20 I've had from Crucible over the years.

The actual coffee shop is hip and roomy, with good outdoor seating for when the weather is nice. I was surprised how quick service was as well on a very busy Sunday morning. I am probably jaded by northern Virginia prices but the total of my bill was also far less than I was anticipating, which leads me to say they are very reasonably priced. I typically rate a coffee shop on how well they can make a simple latte, and this one was faultless. If we lived nearer to Staunton, I would be here all the time... As it is, I have to settle for the...

Nice atmosphere, but the drinks I got were not good at all. The matcha latte didn't taste anything like matcha and was essentially just watered-down milk that was colored green. I also got the Peaberry drink, which was listed as black tea with orange and peach. I didn't taste it until after I left and realized that they gave me unflavored black coffee. Not at all what I was expecting. Seems like a good place to hang out and do work or read, but I would not recommend getting the drinks I did. I had pretty high hopes for this place, and might go back again to try the actual coffee, but unfortunately this trip was a waste of $11 😕 (Second picture taken at a Dunkin' to get a drink that actually tasted like matcha)

We stopped at Crucible Coffee Roasters on the way to West Virginia and the coffee was so good that we stopped again on the way back! The vibe is pretty trendy and the coffee selection is much more craft than your typical sugar-filled-coffee-ish coffee shop. Our group loved their seasonal drink called "Barbara" that included citrus and warm spices. The only reason this place doesn't get a full 5 stars is because of the service. The coffees were made relatively quickly and well, but the staff was rude on our first visit and cold and uninviting on our second stop. Definitely a good stop for great coffee, but not necessarily a place to stop if you want a more "Cheers" feeling.
