Gator Jake's Bar & Grill — Restaurant in Sterling Heights

Server Kelsey seemed to be an “experienced” waitress with her attitude. Food was disgusting, however all the other staff members were fantastic. Thus, this review has 3 stars and not one. But your workers reflect your business. Absolutely disrespectful waitress. The problem ended up with the wings they served.

The wings were shown to multiple people when broken down, as showing mainly made up of just breading. When explained to the waitress, “hey sorry this is my first meal at 10:45pm, as you can see this is all breading covered with sauce.” She explained “the kitchen literally just closed” i said “okay” she replied with “yup okay” and walking away. Thus causing me to close my tab with her immediately and taking my business to the bar (petty? Yes.) but i want to be happy with where I’m being serviced. Mind you it was 35-42minutes in between each trip she made to our table. (We kept a timer going, petty? Yes. I think we can safely assume i am a petty individual.) Getting the drinks of other people at the table, wrong. Multiple times. But that’s just minor things to expect when going to a bar.

i ordered a drink in under 14 seconds when walking up to the bar. I would assume a waitress would make a .001% attempt in satisfying her customer. She was tipped based on her quality which was $0, wings were still charged on the tab, even though only 3/8 wings were eaten. the wings were left.

Tipping was never the issues, Kelsey, it was your service. For you to attempt to embarrass someone in front of their friends, is unprofessional, and at the end of the day, makes you look like a fool.

Mind you the tab at the bar was $5 and a $10 was tipped. However, Kelsey decided to address the frustration she experienced in front of several tables, including a newly engaged couple we took out to celebrate, as our table was getting up to leave. Completely immature and unprofessional.

Good luck to Gator Jake as a local bar. However the business will never prosper with employees...

So I pick my kid up on the day he got out of school for summer vacation and took him here today and Jake's. After a game of pool and eating some food which was really good I meant the waitress at the register payee for my food and proceeded to walk out to meet my mom in the parking lot so she can pick my kid up to take him home so I can go back to work... So a I'm in the parking lot, the waitress comes out and gets me to tell me that I was $20 short and can I please come back inside with her... Lol sure I can I say, I laugh at this walk back inside saying to the lady what do you think I'm stupid because I keep all my money on my ATM card and only had 42 bucks in my wallet which I gave to the waitress which she did not know that's all I had in my wallet. Long story short when I Asked for them to call the cops because I know exactly how much money I gave her and the girl looked like she was about to cry and the other female told me no we do not have to get the police involved and then I told the cook behind the counter cooking that the money was in her pocket and asked her if she could empty her pockets she then looked at me in the cook and said it's okay to me and the cook.... I really do hope Gator Jake's fired that girl because who knows how many other people she has done that to shake my head... I'm hoping they read this post and reach out to me over that situation... I go out to eat here all the time with my mom and dad and even my son who I had with me when they tried to shoot that move and get another $20 out of me... This incident that happened on 5/12/24 around lunch time... To anybody that reads this post and thinks about going to Gator Jake's just double check your money before you hand it to the waitress in case they try telling you you gave them the wrong amount.... This business is very untrustworthy in my opinion!!! Shady...

We ordered the gator bites, coconut shrimp with a side of broccoli, French onion soup, and the crocodile club when we were finally able to have someone take our order. We waited a pretty long time to get some help, so when I asked a girl standing behind the bar if we could order food she said I had to wait for the bartender. The bartender was never notified about us so I had to go up a second time then the bartender sent a different person to take our order (in which she was the only one who provided good service the whole evening). The gator bites were actually the best thing here and yet unfortunately they give us a very small amount and put them on a bed of fried dough to make it seem fuller. The French onion soup was super cheesy on top which would have been good, if the soup itself didn't taste super watered down. It had little to no flavor. The coconut shrimp was burned, broccoli bland, and the bread for the crocodile club was pretty dry and stale. The meat inside was good when you eat it by itself though. To top it all off we were kind of rushed out as they turned off the lights and were mopping behind us telling us they were closed. In the end so we felt like we had to inhale the food and beer. All in all, the food and service is better at other nearby bars. Limelight isn't that far away and if you don't mind driving a little, Ireland's Pub is great in St Clair shores and actually open till 2...
