First off I'm not one to write reviews much unless I'm very impressed or very underwhelmed, this review would be the latter. I was driving through Groton from out of town and thought ice cream would be nice as I've been on a diet but it was a beautiful day so why not. The other place in town had a line around the block. When I saw this spot with no line that should've been a giveaway to just pass. I got up to the window and thought of leaving when I saw they pretty much offer no flavors at all. I wish I had, but I decided on trying the brownie sundae. It had some fancy name maybe brownie explosion, that just makes it more of a disgrace. The " brownie " seems to be entenmann's brownie bites you get two of those not even heated up so you have some hard stale brownie bite to break up with a plastic spoon. You get a good amount of chocolate sauce which did taste fine didn't blow me away but was far better than the fake brownies. Basically this sundae ruined my day and left me wishing I waited to get ice cream near my house. I slept on it a day and I might be more mad today, this place should be ashamed. Maybe get some more hard serve options and a...
Read moreThis ice cream shop is located right next to a stunning scenic spot with panoramic views of the Mystic coastline. You can take in the ocean, charming seaside houses, and the peaceful atmosphere of this beautiful little town while enjoying your treat.
They offer both soft-serve and hard ice cream—I actually didn’t know the distinction before, but we tried both, and they were delicious. The portions are generous. I had a vanilla soft-serve cone with a chocolate dip—absolutely tasty! We also got a scoop of hard strawberry ice cream, and the flavor was rich and refreshing.
What really stood out is the variety—they offer countless combinations of flavors and toppings. You could come here many times and still try something new every visit.
Eating ice cream while enjoying the coastal view was the perfect way to relax. There’s plenty of parking nearby, and there’s even a clean portable restroom (Honey Bucket) near the snack bar just a short walk away.
Highly recommended—whether you’re passing through Mystic or here on vacation, this place offers a memorable and...
Read moreI recently took my family to Twisters Ice Cream, and it was a delightful experience from start to finish! The variety of flavors is impressive, with something to satisfy every taste bud. My kids were thrilled with the colorful, fun options and couldn't stop talking about the unique toppings they got to choose from. The ice cream itself is creamy, rich, and bursting with flavor—easily some of the best we've had.
The atmosphere at Twisters is welcoming and family-friendly, with plenty of seating to oversee the Mystic River that made our visit even more enjoyable. The staff was incredibly friendly and patient, especially as our little ones took their time deciding what to order. We also appreciated the clean, well-kept environment, which made us feel comfortable and at ease.
Overall, Twisters Ice Cream is a must-visit spot for families. Whether you're in the mood for a classic cone or something more adventurous, you'll find it here. We left with smiles on our faces and are already looking forward to our next visit! Highly recommended for a fun...
