If I could give a negative 5, I would. I called to see how much lobster in a lobster roll, and they said 1/3 of a pound, which is a little more than 5 ounces. I thought great. It's not so bad for 25 bucks. When I opened it, It barely filled a tiny hot dog roll. The lobster was dry, and the roll not even toasted even though I asked for it toasted. I went back in and asked for more butter, so the lady charged me for extra butter. I decided to eat it. Probably should have returned it. I then decided to let the lady know in a nice way. She tells the younger girl, and the girl says ill let you talk to the owner, so you can get your money back." I nicely tell the owner that the lobster roll may have had maybe 3 oz. He tells me that lobsters have gone up Yada, Yada. I said I get it, but It was the tiniest I ve ever seen. I told him I could show him a picture. He then says, "What do you want me to do? I said can you refund something? Well, how much? The girl said I'd get my money back how about 20.00?. He says you want me to give you 20 for 24.00 lobster roll? He throws down 30 bucks with an attitude, here take 30! and I say no. I'll just take my 20 bucks, and I'll leave a review. He offered me another lobster roll, but I didn't trust what he'd do to it, so I passed. All that I wanted was a lobster roll that was worth my money and now adays if you could get 5 oz of lobster meat you're lucky. However, if I were up the shoreline, I would have gone to Lenny's Indian Head where they make a lobster roll with coleslaw fresh coleslaw, not the grey coleslaw Ubertis made for 30.00. 7oz of fresh chunks of lobster meat! I've tried many times to give Ubertis a chance and every time got a big attitude regardless of complaints. Nope. THE FOOD IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY OR...
Read moreI’ve been coming here since I moved to Stratford 5 years ago. My girlfriend and I went today on Good Friday and placed an order that was supposed to be ready in 15-20 minutes. An hour later we get our food and go home to eat. We then realized that half our order was missing. We called and called and no one answers. I head back over there and proceed to the front of the line and told the cashier. She looks up the ticket and says that it will be ANOTHER hour to get my order. I asked to speak to a manager and someone from the kitchen yelled just refund him. I stood firm and said I would like to speak to a manager. He comes out with the ticket and calls me a liar since everything that was put into the bag was notated on the ticket. I told him to refund my whole order (reasonable request or not) because half the food was going to be soggy and disgusting. They did not take the opportunity to take this unpleasant experience and turn it into a positive one for a patron.
There are many things they could have done to affect the outcome and not lose a customer or potential customers through my recommendations.
They could have refrained from implying that I was lying and therefore stealing.
They could have apologized and redid that part of the order without attempting to make me wait another hour.
They could have redid the entire order as it’s Fried food that needs to be eaten in timely manner. (Would be nice but necessary)
They could have done anything except for what they did and it would have been a better outcome.
I understand that today was a busy day and I get it. What isn’t acceptable is blaming me for holding up other customer orders and bringing your kitchen to a halt.
Today this business chose not to do the...
Read moreI needed to find a fishmonger to buy fresh fish from to make homemade sushi. This place had decent reviews and some friends of ours have happily done business with them for many years. I came with a cooler and asked about what they had to offer for making sushi at home. She insisted all of their offerings were fresh and confidently stated all of it was of "sushi grade." I only put that in quotes because it is an entirely subjective and unregulated term.
She spread butcher paper over the block and used a clean blade to carve off the Ahi I requested. I was allowed to inspect the fish before I bought it as well which is a must. She also packed it in ice in my cooler for me to safely transport back home.
Another key feature to my comfort in consuming raw food from a fishmonger is that the place ONLY deals in fish and is busy, indicative of quick turnover so fish does not sit on the shelf and also that butcher blocks and blades aren't used to carve up some chicken and then to cut up your fish. As far as I could tell these guys only sold fish and shell fish.
The quality of the fish was excellent and it tasted great. The staff member at the counter also told me if I ever wanted something specific for sushi, such as yellowtail or red snapper, she could have it ordered for me which is very nice. Overall very pleased and will definitely...
