A friend of mine has been on the search for a great Indian restaurant in our general area and has been trying various restaurants over the past year or so. She invited us to join her in her latest restaurant visit, Akshaya Patra. As soon as you walk in, the restaurant smells absolutely amazing. The blend of spices and smells in the air is wonderful. The menu is quite varied and it was hard narrowing down our choices. I, being a creature of habit, choose the chicken tika masala as it tends or be my test food at restaurants when I compare. Also ordered butter naan to go with the dish as well. Food arrived fairly quickly, complimented by some very fragrant and tasty rice and the butter naan. Spice (heat level) wise, I can't handle much beyond mild, so I was very appreciative of a mild, medium, and hot option for the dish. The mild was very flavorful without being "hot" and was excellently seasoned. In general, our entire party was quite happy with their meals. There was a lot left over so many to-go containers were used by everyone for taking home. Overall, it is absolutely a restaurant I would visit again to work my way through the menu. Indian food is not generally a go-to for me given my issue with spice (hot) so I have only had it a handful of times at various restaurants but from what I have had, this was my favorite for sure. They do have an outdoor seating area that could be great on a warm (not cold winter like when we visited) night.

This restaurant is fairly new and in the same location as a few different other similar eateries. We ordered chilli pakoras, and they were like non that we have ever tried. Keep in mind that I've grown up with my family owning several restaurants in NYC and even here in Northeast Ohio. These pakoras were stuffed with peanuts, onions, and spices. It's something that people should try if they want to experience a unique spin on a staple appetizer. We also ordered masala dosa, methi malai kofta, chicken tikka masala, roti, and garlic Naan. All the entrees are served with plain rice. The dosa arrived a good 10 minutes early, but I think that's very common wherever they serve dosa's. It was good. The malai kofta and chicken tikka masala had very similar flavors. They were both on the sweeter side. The breads were simply amazing. One thing that really sticks out is the great customer service. The gentleman that was our server may have been the owner, but regardless, he was one of the sweetest, hands-on, and caring server. I would definitely give this place another shot, but with a few changes, like ordering my apps first and notifying the staff that I would like my dosa crunchy and with the rest of the meal.

So first a disclaimer I am allergic to Capsaicin so I cannot eat spicy food, but I went and tried Akshaya with a large group of people. The waitress was super nice and helped me pick out Butter Chicken as my entree which they made very mild. It had good flavors but was really just seasoned tomato soup with chicken chunks so I thought it was overpriced. The basmati rice was delicious. I ordered plain naan and got 3 small triangular slices so I thought that was overpriced as well. Everyone else at the table seemed happy with their meals, they all got spicy entrees - the Biryani looked delicious but couldn't be made mild. The waitress at first said she could not do separate checks but then figured out how to handle it - she took our orders with the hand held device then after we were done eating we each went to the front where we told her what we had and she rang up each order again on the register.

Went for my son's birthday. We came at 1pm, knowing they closed at 3pm. They happily put the cake in the fridge for us in the back. Besides that and the owner? Cashier? Definitely not waiter, made a joke or two with us over the 2 hours we were there. We each got bottled water given to us. That was the good part of the service. Great atmosphere, friendly families. 6 of us came, and 3 got the buffet. Eventually, after 30 or so minutes, we were given one card with QR code to pass around as a menu. After 30-40 minutes more, I had to flag the owner?cashier-non waiter to take our order. He told me to sit down, for the first of at least 3 times he told me to do so, and implied he'd get to us. Five to 10 minutes more, and he did. Mind you, most everyone else there was getting the buffet, so he was not busy or concerned about that. 3 more joined us unexpectedly, and they all got the buffet. Food didn't take terribly long, but there were no complaints about the buffet food or the orders. Good job there. After the three of us finished, we started cleaning up and stacking our dirty plates. By this time, it's past 2:30pm, and we're just trying to get our cake so we can cut it and go. Bus boy passes us, back and forth for about 10 minutes (we're the last customers there), while we're all but begging him to take our dirty plates. We're trying to find any employee at all willing to bring our cake out to us. Since we had plenty of time, we packed our leftovers into containers I brought with us to pack the cake in. Finally, the owner, cashier, non waiter brings the cake, and we rush to sing, cut it, eat, and pay so we weren't cutting into their closed time. Stood at the counter trying to pay for over 5 minutes. I tried to explain I was paying for the first 6 people, and my friend was paying for the other 3. The owner/ cashier/ non waiter made me feel dumb for trying to explain, then just charged me for all 9 of us. I was just happy to be done and able to leave. Do NOT go for the service! Get the buffet, but then you're stuck with whatever heat level is there. Or better yet, just...

I would have given -5 stars review to this restaurant, I never had such horrifying experience with any other restaurants in past. I visited this restaurant after hearing about it from some friends, along with my family and my 2 year old daughter. She was insisting to have ice-cream, so we enquired about any ice-cream served at restaurant. But they had very limited menu without any ice-creams to offers, so they suggested to order Mango Lassi. We ordered our food and all 3 of us shared same Mango lassi, my daughter had most of it. But at same night my daughter started vomiting and had loose motions, she was very sick. We thought she might have got some infection, next day Me and my wife ate the leftover from our dinner last night at Crown of India. It was the most horrific night, me and my wife vomited in night. For 1 week my whole family was sick with stomach aches and diarrhea, we had to consult Dr. and he said it might be due to food poisoning caused by restaurant food. I am really furious with "Crown of India" restaurant and never will go there again. This has been the worst experience in my whole life with restaurant foods. I can never imagine such unhygienic food served at such restaurants. Please don't ever visit...
