Ruth and I were looking for a good place for dinner in or around East Stroudsburg Pennsylvania. We discovered there were a few. Some had good service, standard fair and nominal pricing. It has been rare to find all 3 of these qualities in a single restaurant. They always have something lacking. We decided that if we wanted better we'd have to be more particular and perhaps demanding and definitely pay more. So after a steakhouse or two we stumbled upon MOMENTO. From the moment we entered the staff were attentive to our needs. The menu was ambitious to say the least. The cocktail menu showed imagination. The wine menu was mesmerizing . And then, then there was the menu. Chef Nicola Mersini presents the best of his world to his clientele. He believes we deserve it. He does not disappoint. We chose the 6 Course Captains Tasting and the traditional wine pairing. Our server, Alaina, prepared us for this culinary adventure. We had our cocktails and then she presented the first of many fine wines. Each a different wine for each plated tasting, each tasting brought from the kitchen to our table by Chef Nicola with descriptions of the ingredients, there preparation and there significances. We spent about 2 hours being served and sated. From the amuse bouche to dessert and after dinner drinks. I am 73 years old and have never been served such delicious food or been so enthusiastically well treated and honored by an establishment. These were people who believed in what they were doing and happy to show us their best. They made us believers also and I hope East Stroudsburg feels as proud of this establishment as the staff of MOMENTO does. Now I will admit the experience was pricey…..but I was never disappointed at any point of service, hospitality or gastronomical creativity and originality. I would go back again tomorrow. I will declare this visit to this restaurant, this Chef, these servers and wait staff a milepost in my life that will be the standard of fine dining...
Read moreFrom start to finish, our evening at Momento was nothing short of fantastic. My friend and I both ordered the trout special, which was perfectly prepared—fresh, flavorful, and plated with true attention to detail. Our wives chose the beef short rib paired with pasta, and I have to say, it was one of the most impressive dishes we’ve seen in quite some time. The richness of the short rib balanced beautifully with the pasta, creating a true yin and yang of taste and presentation. Each dish not only looked like a work of art but tasted every bit as good as it appeared. The service elevated the experience even further. Kylea took exceptional care of us—warm, attentive, and professional without being overbearing. She anticipated what we needed before we had to ask, made thoughtful recommendations, and ensured everything flowed seamlessly throughout the evening. In fact, if I could, I would hire her in a second—she embodies everything you could want in hospitality. To complement the meal, we enjoyed two bottles of excellent wine. The selection paired beautifully with our entrees, and again, Kylea’s guidance helped us make the perfect choice. For a fine dining experience of this caliber, we were pleasantly surprised at how fair the pricing was. The quality of the food, the atmosphere, and the outstanding service all combined to deliver incredible value. Even the smallest touches set Momento apart. When we requested a little food to go, it wasn’t just bagged and dropped at the end of the table—it was carefully placed on its own stand. That kind of unmatched attention to detail shows the pride and care this team brings to every part of the experience. Momento is a gem. It’s rare to find a place where the food, service, and atmosphere come together so perfectly, but they’ve truly mastered it. We left not only full and happy but already talking about when we’ll be back. A five-star experience...
Read moreSo I had a party of 8 for my birthday. We came specifically for the pasta at your table on Wed. We left very very disappointed 😞
First let me say I've been going to momentos for 20 years, ever since they were in their old location where pizza one is now. I always liked their pizza and dishes that are pizzeria standards, like chicken francaise or penne vodka etc.
Then they moved to the old Ned's on Ninth location, and things sort of changed. They started separating their two menus and was trying to do an upscale restaurant and keep their pizzeria going as well.
I know chef Nicola is said to be an accomplished chef. The website says he has trained all over the world, been on TV etc.
And here we are, a table of 8, spending no less then $40 a person at his restaurant and he doesn't even say hello when he pulls the cart up to the table to make the pasta!!!!! Doesn't introduce himself, doesn't ask even who's birthday might be????
This is how you treat your customers???
Ok, so he's not personable, I can get over that. Then he makes the pasta, adds boiled chicken, yes I kid you not, it was not grilled chicken, it was not sliced in a nice presentation..it was two pieces of boiled chicken with what seemed liked a slimy coating on it.
He should be ashamed of himself to let something like that out to a customers plate at a restaurant with a chef of his caliber. He put it on the plate, so he cant blame his staff...I bet his worst helper in the kitchen would know better.
We will never go there again unfortunately. I'm not sure chef Nicola would even care, because he didn't seen to care about us when we were customers...why care if we never come back.
Our waiter was very nice. Chef you should take a lesson from him on how to make customers feel welcome in...
