I come back again and again and again, simply because no matter how else life breaks down, BT's is a constant and consistent source of joy.
There is no satisfaction quite like a big heaping tray of tender, savory, smoky, succulent meats. There is no better place for satiating one's carnivorous cravings. Save up and splurge. It feels like there's an economy of scale at work: if you decide that money is no object and just go for it, you'll be surprised with how much you get for a reasonable price.
My go-to is the three meat platter with the upcharge for brisket and ribs, then since I've got beef and pork covered, I get the pulled chicken to cover the poultry base. I like to invite friends and share the bounty. It comes to only about 15 bucks per if you share, and you should! Listen: they sell these smoked meats by volume - BY. THE. QUART. It's so insanely tender, chewing is practically optional but for the sheer delightful feeling of SINKING YOUR TEETH IN. You could use a SPOON.
The sauce variety is comprehensive as well, though I stick with the usual sweet BBQ with a splash of the Meat Heat, if I deign to use a sauce at all, because again, it's already exceptionally flavorful and juicy.
The sides are great too of course - I for one always loved their greens, but their Mac and Cheese is both richly creamy and SHARP. White Cheddar! And their fries, good heavens their fries! I've never had french fries so packed with flavor, not just on the outside but through and through. You can tell they use tallow and not some disgusting seed oil like canola. Peanut oil for their bacon bits by the taste of it too, which goes exquisitely well with their overall sweet, spicy, salty vibe.
Every meat dish they offer is a journey for your tongue STRAIGHT TO VALHALLA. If you live anywhere within a hundred miles, you will have done yourself a grave disservice if you do not dine here...
Read moreWent here today with my partner today. The service is friendly and honest about wait times. I love the line rules for newcomers and the overall ambiance. Tables are first come first serve which seems okay bc by time your food is ready you’ll most likely have found a seat. We got the three meat platter with brisket, pork, and ribs with slaw and collards. We added on a piece of fried chicken, mac n cheese, dirty rice, and an order of hush puppies. I’m not big on hush puppies but my partner has very minimal experience with bbq food and I figured he should try a classic dish. They’re good for hush puppies but still not my thing bc they are usually so dry. They are served with a sticky sauce that tastes like a blend of molasses and black licorice. Yuck. My guy liked the pups alright but agreed with me on the sauce. You get a pretty large portion of maybe ten for cheap so it’s worth it if you’re a fan. The cornbread that comes with the meal tastes good but is so crumbly. Butter would be cool…The ribs were okay, not fall of the bone good, but there’s a good amount of meat and decent flavor. The brisket was wayyy too smokey and just tasted like charcoal. The pork was good and moist and tasty, but a bit too greasy/fatty. The chicken was the best meat and I will definitely get it again. It reminds me of Albertson’s fried chicken almost which, if you’ve ever had the joy of eating, is frickin delicious. My guy fell in love with the slaw and said it was the best he ever had. I’m pet sure it’s vinegar based. Tangy. The mac n greens were very yummy. The mac has a strong sharp cheddar flavor and I like it. Dirty rice was okay. Overall, the experience was mid. The best items were the chicken and sides which is pretty disappointing for a bbq place. Will be back for the chicken and to try the other sides. Still looking for good quality bbq in...
Read moreThis place is amazing. 🙂 Who would ever think that Sturbridge would ever house one of the best BBQ joints I have ever been to?! I certainly didn't hold up too much hope when I drove up their driveway as the outside of the building looks very unassuming but when I got inside I was greeted by a very friendly member of their team and was very quickly served my food. 🙂 The atmosphere for the most part is very appealing to the eye and it is very cozy there with one small detail in the negatives...it was cold inside the restaurant but it's the beginning of December and perhaps I should be more understanding. 🙂
I have to say their Brisket along with their Mac and Cheese and Collard Greens was so of the best I have ever had. 🙂 The bark of the brisket was one that dissolves in your mouth with almost no effort, the smoke ring was proudly displayed on the meat, the meat itself was fork tender and super moist and flavorful. 🙂 The Mac and Cheese was made with care to make sure it didn't possess that grainy texture that plagues most restaurants when they attempt to make Mac and Cheese by scratch. 🙂 It was quite good too. 🙂 The Collard Greens were both overall a great experience. 🙂 They were smokey, earthy, moist and loaded with caramelized bacon. 🙂 Certainly some of the best greens I have ever eaten in a restaurant. 🙂
Overall my experience there has reminded me never to judge a restaurant by its outside features and great BBQ can definitely be found in Massachusetts. 🙂 Keep up the good work guys...I can't wait to come back and eat...
