(Food) First off the chicken bacon ranch pizza was delicious no doubt. We got it without tomatoes on it which is kinda a different option than my typical c.b.r pizza but ,okay anyways it could have used more chicken spread out or slightly more chicken period. The onions again which are a different touch to this type of pizza are a different touch but, added flavor this. Teddy delivered it himself to our table. For dessert , I had a strawberry cheesecake sundae which was delicious but could have used more pieces of cheesecake squares or whatever. The menu I think could use a few more items like steak or something beefy Overall I give the food a 4/5
The service was pretty damn good. The waitress was very down to Earth and sweet as well as very good to take care of any refills and ask us how our food was. Also it was nice to see the owner Teddy helping out where he could whether it be restocking items or delivering food to customers. 5/5 for me.
The (Atmosphere) on the other hand is a different story. Not great and not terrible either. However it's small, crammed and the lighting is depressing like Teddy G's up across from Shaw's the other way in Sturbridge. You also will encounter screaming climbing booth children but, that's anywhere in 2024 unless you live on Mars or something. We sat at a little table which had two heavy comfy chairs much like a gentleman's club might have and enough room for our elbows, a couple small plates and a large pizza on a metal bracket as well as napkins and silverware. Boy did I feel closterphobic from the pizza alone on our table nevermind the wall to my right just as crammed to the table like Teddy G's high top seating does to you.
The booths here have weird metallic colors much like that of the back of a shiny cd. Overall you're probably better off eating outside where you get ice cream at the windows like friendly's back in the day or else get take out and get the hell outta this crammed place. I felt like I was living in black & white in there as the environment felt kinda blah and depressing. You can also see the kitchen through clear plexiglass which is alright I guess besides a couple staff members I could see back there in the corner snacking on something.
All I can say to sum it all up is , it's a delicious crammed poorly lit brick oven pizza joint with...
Read moreHonestly, I give them credit for trying to get a business up and running in Sturbridge, however. The vibe I got was average, and I guess I was expecting more. The fact that there was only one size pizza available here in New England, felt almost trapping once seated. We were looking to buy a large pizza, not a 14' inch. Sure, I could have investigated more prior to showing up, yet being local to the area, I could have thought of a dozen different pizza joints that would have whatever size you wanted. It was good, yet far from the best, average on the good factor. Didn't hate it, didn't love it, I guess the ice cream would be next on the list to try.😂 It's an old Friendly's location that had a rather good variety of food and sweets, this Gido's menu was skimpy, yet some of the stuff looked tempting none the less. There was a group of workers at the exit when my dad and I were leaving, and literally they all just looked at us while exiting and didn't even say "have a nice day". Then one of the young ladies approached us and thanked us for coming. I get it, we're not living in the 40's or 50's when hospitality was the norm, yet, do ya actually want folks to come back? It's not hard to say something nice to those paying your salary. So, would I go again? Maybe, unless another pizza place was open that actually sells large pizzas. Our waitress was very nice, yet not readily available due to maybe a call out or two, but thumbs up to her, she actually made an attempt to please. Glad it's open, and hopefully there's plenty if folks with far less...
Read moregot the crab rangoon pizza which was really good ! I would have put a little less cream cheese and more scallions but it still was amazing ! I was impressed when I picked it up and the inside was busy and all the food looked so good ! I love the unique menu and how there are many things that you don't find in other establishments. A little overpriced but good quality. would definitely recommend and definitely will come back ! Love the ice cream options too ! Came the next day and ordered a clam strip meal and it was one of the best. The flavor was so yummy, whatever is in there batter is so good but simple at the same time not overbearing just perfect. They give you a huge portion size also and the fries were great, unfortunately I took it for take out so they were a little soggy when I got to the hotel, but that's not their fault its what happens when fries are to go because of the steam being hot and fresh ! Also ordered 2 medium ice creams that come with a topping and whipped cream and the girl making them did an amazing job and those were good sized portions also. She shoves the ice cream in the cup to make sure you get plenty of ice cream and she layers the topping which I loved ! I got just chocolate ice cream and peanut butter sauce whippled cream and sprinkles and it was sooo yummy. I look forward to trying things on the menu though its hard because its not close to home. Wish they would open more restaurants because this place would be a hit any...
