Some girlfriends and I took a cabin getaway in Sturgeon Bay and we were very excited to check out this local (adorable) breakfast joint before wandering downtown. There were only 2 workers, neither of which acknowledged us as we walked in and we had to be invasive to get the attention of one of them. She told us it would be a 25 minute wait, it was around 40 minutes. We finally were seated, then our waitress spilt an entire glass of water on us (leaving us drenched in water/ice) and proceeded to grab a bath towel and simply wiped off the table without getting us any towels to get ourselves dry.... she also did not directly apologize for this mistake. Our food came and it was DELICIOUS, but when it came time to pay our waitress told us their system was down, although our cards were repeatedly getting charged and then voided... she asked us to write down our personal banking card numbers and leave them with her (which we responded with absolutely not). We luckily had enough cash between us to pay and finally leave. We ate our food within a matter of 15 minutes, although our time spent was over 2 hours due to the service and inability to pay our bills. The food was great, hence the 2 stars, although the overall experience is one that I do...
Read moreWhat a gem of Sturgeon Bay! Stopped for breakfast this past Saturday (7/15) and we left extraordinarily pleased.
Service was phenomenal. Everyone seemed genuinely happy to be there, happy to be providing exemplary service.
Food, also phenomenal. Ordered Carol's omelet (minus 'shrooms, because gross) and the quesadilla. Omelet served with toast, both with hash browns. Instead of this flavorless, mushy, undercooked mass of potatoes that nearly every other restaurant has, MG's had the best browns we've had in ages. Cooked and seasoned to perfection.
Only downside which was minor since we sat outside was the inside was really loud. Seems like the acoustics are a little lacking. But who cares. The food and service trump anything...

The ambience is a little on the tight side since the tables are so close to each other, but that’s just the layout of the place. The service could be a bit warmer, but it’s fine overall, and honestly, the food makes up for it.
One thing to keep in mind, when paying the bill, it automatically suggests a 26% tip on top of 3% service charge that they already added to your bill. You can adjust it, but it’s something to be aware of.
If you’re looking for a spot with amazing breakfast dishes, this is definitely the place. We’ll keep...
