Update: We returned today for the second time. This time for dinner. Food was as good as last time—hot and fresh. However, the atmosphere was not child friendly (beware of loud and vulgar language by patrons) and there were additional charges added to the bill. If I had read the reviews here prior to returning, I would not have missed the service charge requirement. However, when I noticed it, I addressed it with them and received the charge back in cash. I appreciate the waitress attempting to make it right, somewhat. So, I don’t write this review for me. I write it for others. There have been several people posting about these charges and the reply has been the same. There has been no change in business practices. She mentioned that there is a sign. We too were told that there were two signs after I noticed the charge. None of which can be seen from where we were seated. The font is likely size 12 or 14 and it’s on the wall away from any patrons in the restaurant. In my opinion, this does not qualify as a sign meant to be read by a human but a sign that can be read by a fly. Additionally, the waitress does not provide an itemized check before requesting payment. Instead, you are informed of the total and then provided the handheld machine to input your tip. I actually tipped more than the 18% service charge, so I was quite stunned to see 13.5% in taxes, 18% gratuity, and then my additional 20% tip included on my receipt after paying. Like the others, I don’t mind paying the fee. However, I do mind the lack of transparency. I do mind being looked at as if I’m a problem because I asked for an explanation for this charge and not even acknowledged for my patronage on my way out. And after seeing other reviews citing this particular issue, with no changes to practice, I do not believe that I will ever return. I do hope that the business practices at this restaurant improve for the sake of the Suffolk community. We need restaurants to thrive but not by misleading customers.
First time: Today, we dined at Rennee's for lunch. The restaurant was clean and the service was great! The food was good and fresh. We will return to try other items...
Read moreMe and my bf ate here last night. I was craving a CHEESEburger last night. GBB was closed by the time we arrived. Checked this place out. It's like stepping into a time machine. Chill but definitely not worth 100.00. Make sure you watch what they put in your beverage. Well liquor taste like well liquor. My bf was surprised at the taste and I explained in the beginning of our date it was bottom shelf and the waitress said it was happy hour and was probably just trying to save us some money. I never asked for top shelf. Got a BUBBA BURGER. IYKYK (Period), Egg rolls were delicious. BF's steak Alfredo entree was really good too. Could have been a little larger for the price. Bf's entree came out way before the burger and it was dry. Server originally bought me some ketchup. I like mustard and mayo on my burger and when I finally got my disappointing frozen processed patty. The lady looked at me and asked if I had asked for cheese on that and I said yes. I am such a chill person and at this point told her if I could just have a piece of cheese to just put on it that would be great and of course she was accommodating and asked if I was sure and I I replied yes. The burger was still hot and I was like whatever I'm hungry. The lady brought me a piece of cheese on a piece of parchment paper and said here you go they melted it for you. I had to scrape the cheese off. When it was time to pay the lady went and got three different hand held just to take my payment because they were not working. While the waitress tried to get a little argumentative when I confronted her about the well liquor she tried to tell me what she gave me and told me she could take it off and blah blah blah. I ate it and so did my pockets. NOT...
Read moreAs I am parking to attend a child’s party. I noticed this restaurant. I made a mental note of this location just in case I had to visit it during the bday celebration. Short story (the hubby and I lost an embryo baby not even a week before Mother’s Day. B/c of our spirit we decided to push through). Someone came up to my husband and I and said “you two the only couple that shows up with a child to a 3 years old bday party. You can borrow my child if you want” and the individual burst out in laughter. Now naturally she doesn’t now what just happens to us, as good sports we chuckle along. Tears began to form, so I excuse myself from the husband and the party. Walked down to Renee’s(and apologizes if I spelled it incorrectly) Restaurant and Lounge. From my initial entrance (amazing welcome) I sat at the bar and ordered the strongest drink on the list. Still silently crying the bartender approached me with concerns in her eyes. I ordered my drink and tried to control my tears as theyy feel. The bartender provided me some TLC (slender, wavy hair, soft spoken …never got the name). My husband left the party to find me and came to the restaurant. Once I assured him I was okay, he left and I finished my drinks. While walking back to the bday party I saw the bartender, I gave this beautiful stranger a hug and thanked her. My drink was awesome and I definitely enjoyed the friendly place, nice music, and lovable people. I live in VA Beach but I’ll definitely drive 45 minutes just for this place. Job well...
