Popped in after going through Riddick’s Folly. The staff helped share local events and attractions. There is a lot of info and pamphlets in there. They also have a nice gift shop of local stuff and a neat back sitting area with Mr. Peanut!

Hector the Travel Squirrel and fiancee Sonya stopped by the Suffolk Visitor's Center. Such a lovely town with wonderfully friendly people and many interesting sites to see.

This is where the Suffolk Va Farmer's Market is held! There is a little museum in the big white building with area wildlife and some historical information, very cute.

Well equipped and staffed visitor center with lots of brochures, arranged thoughtfully, and well organized. Staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming.

They have amazing tours wuth very reasonable prices. We took the historic downtown tour which lasted just over an hour. It was well narrated by Rachel and our capable driver Kevin maneuvered us easily and safely through some narrow spots. The tour was unhurried with plenty of time to view each spot from the air conditioned comfort of the mini bus. No walking involved.

Other tours are of the Cedar Hill Cemetery the Great Dismal Swamp, and a walking ghost tour. We plan to take another soon. We booked ahead. Discounts available for 60+, military, etc.

We learned many interesting tidbits about the downtown area, like the spot where Matrin Luther King, Jr. gave a speech to 7000 people, as well as the history of the area including the generosity of Amadeo Obici.

Highly...

While it's called "Visitor" Center, don't be misled. If you're a local, there are many reasons why you should avail yourself of the many things that are available there. From the guided tours of the Great Dismal Swamp where you can learn about the rich history of pre-Civil War "Suffolk", to the seasonal Farmers Market that features locally grown fruits and vegetables along with a wide assortment of items from local craftsmen and artists, there are numerous things to discover for all ages and interests. If you haven't yet paid it a visit, you owe it to yourself and your family to do so...

This is the second time I have been in to the welcome center in the last few weeks. Both times the staff was incredibly rude. They were very short and seemed as though answering any questions was a complete inconvenience to them. I was incredibly disappointed with the interaction I had with the woman up front. I hope the rest of the staff does not...
