I visited the Rreal Tacos in Sugar Hill for dinner during this holiday season and I had a terrible experience. The appetizer took 30 minutes to come out, another 30 minutes later the drinks finally came, and another 30 minutes our food later came. Even though the restaurant was decorated beautifully for Christmas, the service I received was terrible. Once my drink, a sangria, was served, I went to slide it forward on the table. My drink got caught on one of the grooves on the table and spilt on the table and floor before I had the chance to take my first sip. It took around 5 minutes for someone to come and clean up the drink, so my table was using napkins to clean the mess because it was spilt on me and my side of the table. I apologized numerous times for my drink spilling to the individual who came to clean it up and thanked them for their assistance. I asked the server if they could bring me another drink since mine spilt before I could take a sip and I was told no, since I spilt the drink, it was against their policy to bring me a new one. The only way I could receive a new drink is if the staff spilt it. I was taken a back because I spilt the drink on accident and hadn’t even taken a sip yet. I requested to speak to the manager and he was incredibly rude to me. He explained that I was to not be served another drink because I spilt it and he continued to question me, asking if I drank any of the drink and how it spilt. It seemed as if he thought I was trying to pull one over on him and get another drink, however this was an honest mistake. At this point my table hadn’t received our food, only the appetizer and we were already there for an hour. I was on my way to order a water because I felt taken advantage of because the manager was speaking to me loudly and disrespectfully and I had felt that if I wasn’t a woman he wouldn’t have treated me this way. He later decided he would bring me another sangria, but sternly said to me that if I wasn’t ever visit another Rreal Tacos in any location and spill another drink, I was to not be served and I would be banned. At this point I was threatened in front of my table and I felt so incredibly disrespected. Our food finally came out after another 30 minutes, we paid and left. I will not be back after the disrespect I received from the manager. If he were to serve me another sangria and say this isn’t our policy but I will make this exception, that would have been totally fine and I would have understood that it is just their policy. If he were to not serve me another sangria and state it is because of their policy, I probably would have been a little upset but understood that is their policy. (However, I have never visited an establishment that refuses a guest service after an accidental drink spill) It was the statement he made after serving me the sangria, his statement about how if this were to happen again at any location I am to not be served and I would be banned. All of that after an honest mistake? I will gladly take my business elsewhere. This was my first and last time dining at this establishment. The service...
Read moreI am originally from Southern California. Any Southern California native knows just how difficult it is to find tacos outside of Cali and Mexico. My friend raved about this place, but of course I was very skeptical. I was pleasantly surprised that it was good Mexican food. Definitely not anywhere the best I've had, but some of the best I've had outside of SoCal. They even had Spanish rice and horchata (unfortunately not jamaica at this location). Their fish tacos reminded me of Rubios, especially with their use of cabbage versus lettuce (and I was so grateful that they didn't have cheese on them!).
Their salsa was smokey and had a great consistency. The homemade tortilla chips were a little on the salty side, but paired nicely with the salsa.
I had a Mexican Coke which was HUGE (half a liter; you definitely don't need anything else to drink with that) and very refreshing. The coke was slightly different and lighter and refreshing than normal coke (probably because it was also out of a bottle).
I had the esquites which was basically the elote without the cob. That had bit too much lime and it gave it more of a mustard flavor, but it was overall good. I also ordered the fried avocado which wasn't bad and the cilantro sauce that came with it was delicious. It would have been perfect if I had sliced and placed it on my tacos instead.
My friend had the birra taco which looked amazing. I read in the reviews that people were complaining that it was greasy, but it was the good kind of greasy.
The white queso was also on pointe.
The atmosphere was very festive for the holidays and borderline over-the-top, but was nice. It wasn't too loud either.
While the wait was fair, 20 minutes, getting service was very slow, almost another 20 minutes to put our order in. We also ran out of napkins, and it took forever for dessert (tres leche which was yummy). The other food came out fairly quickly. Overall they seemed a bit short staffed between servers, busers, and the host running back and forth. I am guessing it was a combo of call outs, the holidays, and the fact that tables turned over quickly once people were served.
Overall, it is definitely worth a try. I can't wait to go back to try...
Read moreOkay, let me just say this straight: Victor is hands down the BEST server I’ve ever had. Period. No exaggeration, no fluff. Just facts.
You ever go out for tacos expecting a chill meal, and somehow you end up having one of the best dining experiences of your life? That was me, thanks to Victor.
From the second we sat down at RREAL Tacos, Victor had the whole vibe on lock. Super friendly without being over-the-top, chill but crazy efficient. He made us feel welcomed immediately, like we were regulars—even though it was our first time there.
Victor didn’t just drop a menu and disappear. He knew his stuff and you could tell he was genuinely excited about the food. We asked what he recommended and he broke it down like a true taco sommelier. “You want something smoky and spicy? Go with the birria. Feeling crispy? You have to try the fish.” Again—he was 100% right. Every single rec hit the spot. Like…who knew you could trust someone this much with your taco destiny?
And don’t even get me started on the details. Drinks? Always refilled. Salsas? Brought extras before we even had to ask. He somehow managed to keep the energy up, check in the perfect amount, and never made us feel rushed—even though the place was packed.
But here’s what really made Victor stand out: he made it feel personal. He joked with us and made sure everyone at the table was taken care of individually. It didn’t feel like a job to him—it felt like he cared that we were having a good time. And we were.
Honestly, I’ve been to a lot of restaurants. Some fancy, some street-style, some just “meh.” But Victor turned a casual taco night into a five-star experience. Not because he did anything over-the-top—he just got it. He was present, professional, hilarious, warm, and on top of every detail.
So here it is: Victor at RREAL Tacos isn’t just a great server—he’s THE server. The standard. The MVP. The reason I’ll come back and ask, “Is Victor working today?” before I even look at the menu.
👏🌮 10/10. Would tip again (and again...
