The Rooftop definitely had some decent vibes and the band Neon Rose was amazing, as was the staff who were so kind and helpful. However, the owner is an entirely different story. He ruined the experience from the start. From the moment we arrived, he was loud and pompous. Still, my partner and I tried to enjoy ourselves.
We ordered two drinks that ended up being over thirty dollars before the 20% tip. The food options were also basically nonexistent. There wasn’t a food or drink menu on the website, so we didn’t find out until after we’d arrived that our only choices were a charcuterie board or ordering pizza from another restaurant and have it delivered. We decided to order the charcuterie board, which I kid you not was plastic tray with prepackaged cheese and salami that looked like something you’d buy at Kroger. We literally had to peel the plastic off ourselves. Despite that, we focused on the music and tried to make the best of it. While we sat there drinking our mid, overpriced drinks, we read the reviews. Several people mentioned the owner accused them of stealing after offering them a free drink. That raised serious red flags.
Things got a whole lot worse when it started raining. Right before that, the owner announced over the loudspeaker that anyone who brought in cushions would get a free drink. So the moment it started raining, my partner and I each grabbed a cushion and followed the staff’s directions to put them in a back room. However, there was no system to track or honor the free drink promise, and after reading the earlier reviews, we didn’t feel safe asking for one anyway at the risk of being falsely accused as well.
Then, something unbelievable happened. Mind you, the place is in crowded chaos, people running around, loud music playing—it was a mess. God forbid there had been a fire. As I left the back room, I accidentally bumped into the owner. I watched him turn around and DELIBERATELY elbow me in the arm in retaliation. Like not accidentally. ON PURPOSE. I was stunned. I immediately told our server what happened. She was just as disturbed by the information, but I could tell she was new and didn’t really know how to respond. The reviews also mentioned how poorly staff are treated, so I don’t blame her for not wanting to get involved. Truthfully, if I wasn’t wanting to just get out of there, I would have reported the owner for assault to the cops who showed up on our way out.
All in all, it was a terrible experience and I will never go back there under any circumstances.
SIDE NOTE: Given the owner’s behavior and highly unprofessional responses to reviews I’m seeing, I don’t expect my feedback to be taken seriously or met with anything but dismissal and downplaying. However, I hope the owner reflects on this and considers how they treat patrons. If not, the business will likely continue to struggle. It’s important to remember that everyone deserves respect, and I hope future customers don’t have to endure the same issues my partner and I faced.
UPDATE: Thanks for your response. A few points: Your behavior wasn’t a “kind greeting.” You were loud, confrontational, and made the atmosphere uncomfortable from the start. Other reviews say the same. You didn’t honor your free drink offer. There was no system. We weren’t the only ones left confused or empty-handed. This isn’t just our claim. The elbow was intentional. I know the difference between an accident and retaliation. Dismissing it as accidental while avoiding accountability shows poor leadership. My partner and I weren’t looking for problems. We came for live music and a fun night with family. We left shocked by your conduct and the poor food and drink quality.
I hope you take this as a chance to reflect instead of brushing off valid criticism. At the very least, consider posting real menus online so guests know what they’re walking into. And as for your behavior, I’d highly suggest treating customers with basic respect…and keeping your hands to...
Read moreI am a regular at the roof top. It’s the best place with truly the best staff. The owners are so great, welcoming and the nicest people you will ever meet.
I am disgusted by the reviews that were posted last night. They’re telling a total lie and honestly google should remove them. My group happened to be sitting there when Jeff the owner CLOSED the beer garden. It had been open all night and is always open. Once Jeff closed it, the young lady, who wrote the lie of a review, stated “well don’t have OPEN beer taps if you don’t want people to just serve themselves. I was actually shocked. Then the other owner, Jen walked up, because she was being so nice and soft spoken, I only heard her say no, no when the young lady begged her not to kick her out. The owners were not upset at all, but wanted the ladies to know that the beer garden was not free and not self serve. The lady apologized and Jen was smiling at her. No one was accused of stealing and no one was asked to leave.
As for the comments on the staff, most of the staff has been here since this bar opened, that doesn’t sound like unhappy staff to me!!!
So please know, the reviews from last night are total bogus and total lies. You have someone that was embarrassed for taking a free beer and got caught. The owners were very friendly with the situation.
Google I recommend you to take down the lies of the reviews from last night and truly ban these ladies from writing anymore. This is someone’s business, if you can’t tell the truth…. Don’t speak at all. God doesn’t like...
Read moreThe staff was friendly and the music was decent. But $35 for two beers and a mixed drink felt overpriced. Others in our group paid $16 for a glass of wine, so clearly you're paying for the atmosphere... not the drinks.
No real food options, just plastic-wrapped charcuterie trays that felt like upscale Lunchables. For the price, you'd expect at least a plate.
When the rain hit, it got chaotic. They asked customers to help bring in the cushions and promised a free drink to anyone who helped but there didn’t seem to be any system for actually honoring that. While we were helping, the owner elbowed my partner without even acknowledging it.
Overall, the concept is cute, but the execution and pricing don’t justify the experience.
UPDATE: After seeing the owner's response, we double-checked the receipt. The total was $39.65, which includes a 20% tip. That puts the pre-tip total at around $33, not the claimed $32 max. So yes, we were charged more than they say is possible.
The owner also just stated, "If you come in and find that any of the pricing above is not correct then we will give you a year of free drinks." We’ve now shown that it wasn’t correct. We won’t hold our breath.
We didn’t “embellish” anything. We shared what happened. Dismissing customer experiences and gaslighting over basic math doesn’t build trust — it just reinforces why this place didn’t...
