Rouxpour Sugarland My kids chose this location to take their Mom out for Mother’s Day. I’ve been wanting to try this chain since moving to Houston 2 years ago. We were all somewhat let down so I won’t waste much time on this one…so let’s get into it. Location- it’s located in a pretty busy town center so the place is buzzing with people. There are a few street parking spots but you’ll have to win the lottery to get one of those. I also didn’t see a lot of handicap parking. Advice…Head straight for the parking garages, which are free. We had about a 4 min walk to the restaurant from level 2. There are elevators and stairs available. Appearance and Ambiance- the restaurant looks appealing as you walk up. The outside patio looked inviting but we decided to go inside because of the breeze that evening . Once inside we liked the decor and nearly every table was occupied at 7pm. It is kept pretty cool inside so the ladies were glad they brought light jackets. There was a guy playing live music on a keyboard near the bar area but the sound was muffled so you had to strain to recognize the songs he was playing. The sound system sucks. His song selections were nice. Upon settling into our seats we all looked at each other and knew that conversation was going to be very limited because of the noise level from the dinners and the music. I think that the acoustics are the issue. Hated that we were sat near a kitchen door which we could not see but every time someone came out of it you could hear it slam close. Definitely wouldn’t come back because of that unless I could sit in the bar area. And for some reason the sound issue was much better over there despite having several TV’s on. The Food - the place was so loud and are waiter had such a thick accent we couldn’t even hear the recommendations. The Zydeco chicken is the only thing that we liked. The sides on every dish tasted like they had no seasonings in the kitchen. Not a lick of basic salt. All of the entrees were cold after being on the table for 3 minutes. The two desserts we had were the bread pudding and the Bananas Foster’s. The bread pudding was middle of the road and the fosters was trash because they didn’t light it up. The server said that they don’t do that and for me makes the dish incomplete. So all in all I would rate the food a 5 out of 10 because of the price and lacking flavor. Service - they appear to have a nice sized team overall but our service was slow, our water glasses were never refilled and they only had one foreign bottled beer to offer guest on a Saturday night. I didn’t really feel motivated to leave an above standard tip. We may try the Baybrook location but I don’t want to spend this kind of money for average food and service.

Living in Houston, Texas the restaurant food that seems most popular is TexMex/Mexican. I love this type of food as much as anyone, but I like variety and Cajun food often hits the spot. If you want a good, consistent restaurant for Cajun food, one place I recommend is Rouxpour in Sugar Land. Rouxpour serves lunch, dinner, and brunch on Saturdays and Sundays. Most who visit here come for the seafood specialties like seafood gumbo, crawfish, and shrimp and grits. They have a good deal of non- seafood options as well, like zydeco chicken, red beans and rice, steak, and other options. I like that they include beef options and chicken options on the menu because I know people who don’t prefer seafood and with this level of variety, everyone should be able to find something they like. Rouxpour has a full-service bar that can mix up a New Orleans style beverage or any other beverage, for that matter. The drinks are great and so is the food. On my most recent visit, I had the sausage and chicken gumbo for lunch and it was just right- not too filling, not too light. On other occasions, I have enjoyed zydeco chicken and other options. There are so many goods choices on the menu that I keep wanting to return, just so I can try more of them. The atmosphere at Rouxpour is interesting. The televisions, soft lighting, art on the walls, and other accompaniments make it seem like a cross between a sports bar and a fine restaurant. They have background music playing, but they keep it soft and I have found that the crowds are generally quieter than those at other restaurants. This makes Rouxpour a good place to visit when you want some good conversation that doesn’t require shouting at the other people at your table. There is outdoor seating, too, if that is what you prefer. This Rouxpour location is in Sugar Land’s popular City Walk area. Parking is quite easy and that is because Rouxpour is located directly above a parking garage, which happens to offer parking free of charge. My recommendation is to try to get in the southeast corner of the garage. There is no elevator in this corner, but there are steps and they take you right down to the restaurant, next to the outdoor patio. I love Cajun food if it is done right. Rouxpour is a good place for New Orleans style food and it’s the type of restaurant that most anyone will find more than acceptable. I recommend visiting during happy hour when you can eat and drink for a low price. Trust me- Once you get a taste for the food and beverage at Rouxpour Sugar Land, it will almost certainly become part of your dining out rotation.

We had to drive down to Sugar Land to purchase some parts from the Mercedes agency and it was just about dinner time and heavy on traffic so we thought we'd just stop and check out the mall and we found rouxpor we weren't aware of this location we have been to the location in Katy multiple times but I really like this location the atmosphere is old world like in a 1940s Italian restaurant dark wood low lighting great atmosphere the service was excellent we were served by a very nice young lady who was the manager and two other servers that were excellent as well we ordered their oysters of course two different kinds and they were absolutely amazing when was the minionette and the other one was a spinach that was grilled with oysters they were both amazing we also had the devil to eggs which also were outstanding and we tried some of their finest alcohol and enjoyed the scenery in the atmosphere and the good spirits of their facility we also went outside and shared a glass of wine and a cigar I find this to be an amazing place with good atmosphere quality food and great service I strongly urge you to check this place out it's a great place in Sugar Land located nicely into the back side of the mall outdoor Galleria I I have to say I like this place so much that I'm willing to drive from Katie to Sugar Land just to come here I like the atmosphere better it's not so bright like you're in Berlin too much light a place to be enchanting and relaxing and not too much lighting and not too bright it's good for the digestive system to be in an atmosphere such as this and that's the reason why I will drive to Sugar Land from Katie instead of going to the Katy location not that the Katy location is an awesome because it is I just like this atmosphere better but the food is excellent in both places some of the best oysters I've ever had and I've traveled all around United States and I've been in many high-end restaurants from San Francisco to Ohio to Oregon and Washington and all throughout California Arizona pretty much the whole West Coast and parts of the South I find this a very fun entertaining and easy going place I strongly recommend going there the food is excellent the atmosphere is pleasing and relaxing and...
