What a shame. I've been to the Firehouse Subs in Mineral Point and the food and service was excellent; I figured I'd get the same kind service at this new location. How wrong I was. The service was slooooooow and it was not busy at all. It shouldn't take 20 minutes to make two small sub sandwiches. It seemed to me, of the three employees working, only one was making our sandwiches while another cleaned. (As a side note, while cleaning, the employee dropped the broom on the floor right in front of the entrance for anyone to trip over, and left it lie there for a good 10 minutes.) I don't know what the other guy was doing: I think he was just walking around doing nothing. I can't say walking around doing nothing while trying to look busy because that would imply he was at least moving around. He was slow and looked like he didn't care. Any way ... once we finally got our two small sandwiches and took them home I was very disappointed to find that they didn't really put any meat on my sandwich. It was more bread than meat. I felt ripped off. We'll NEVER go back. We'll drive to Mineral Point and give them our business if we are ever craving a sandwich from Firehouse. What a disappointment. Firehouse: you won't last in Sun Prairie unless you pick it up. There are a ton of other restaurants in your area where people can go where the...
Read moreI'm not sure why there are so many negative posts for Firehouse. I have been to the Sun Prairie location over five times in the last three months and I've yet to have an issue. It seems like most people have resorted to using their only experience (i.e. forgot a topping, they were busy/slow, etc.) as a way to express negativity. Well, you need to give a restaurant and business more than one visit in order to review them properly.
My sub has always been of adequate temperature, meat has never been lacking, and my service has been nothing short of what you'd expect and deserve from a sub shop. I must agree, that for a Medium sub (similar to Subway foot long, Jimmy John's regular, etc.) the price is a little higher. With chips and a drink, you are close to $10.00. That's not an issue if you don't eat out every day and even so, that's just about in line with most other places for lunch. If you want poor quality meats for a cheap price, by all means... continue to go to Subway. But Firehouse Subs has given me nothing but quality and I will continue to visit this location.
Bonus: they have a wide selection of hot sauces available for you (and as a person who likes a little...
Read moreSandwiches were great. Food was made quickly & staff was friendly. The only issue we had was that our orders weren't made correctly (i.e. one sandwich was supposed to have no onions & the other no tomatoes & they didn't follow these preferences). And they didn't give us the pickles that come on the side with each sandwich. Fresh bread, meat, & vegetables. Also, I think the food is a little on the expensive side for what it actually is.
UPDATE: We ordered for takeout again here & and the same experience. Fresh bread, cheeses, meats, & vegetables, which is great. But, they didn't make our items as we ordered them. The receipt showed the correct modifications, however, they must have a heard time following directions because 2 out of the 3 sandwiches we received were not as ordered. Plus, we were asked if we wanted pickle spears, to which I replied yes each of the 3 times asked. Once again, we didn't get our pickle spears, either. I give up for a while on eating here. Its very good, but they just cannot seem to make our items the way...
