Update:
Decided I would go out for breakfast this morning. Drove out to Sunbury Grill. Funny that it’s always the same group of people sitting outside waiting for them to open at promptly 6:30 AM. That’s when the shades get pulled up and door is unlocked. I went right to my table which already had my silverware and napkin PLUS my 2 glasses of Coke waiting for me. The diner steadily fills up. I come out here maybe once or twice a month. Kenny and his assistant are preparing food at the grill and shortly Kenny brings my food out. You’re thinking when did someone take your order?? Well it’s like this, that’s what is cool about small town restaurants. I’ve been coming here for years and I get the same thing and I don’t have to waste their time, they make my order and surprise it arrives at my table. 2 eggs over medium, homemade hash browns that are nice and crispy. And the star of the show is Biscuits and Gravy. The biscuits are crisped up on the grill with a little butter I believe. And load on that homemade sausage gravy. Yummy!!! In the hustle and bustle Daisy drops off my check while checking on every person in the diner. This is the definition of a Hometown Diner. So get out and check them out sometime, you won’t be disappointed. They’re the Best!!
Went to this place on a whim. Pretty busy at 0830 in the morning, thinned out some by the time I left. Ordered Biscuits and Gravy, crispy home fries and 2 eggs over medium. Everything came out perfect. Grilled biscuits with the gravy was unique and the best idea. Waitress was Cassie, she was the best, super personality and friendly with everyone. Super great experience, the ONLY downside to the experience was the guy sitting next to me was a Michigan Fan and wouldn't stop talking about how they're going to whoop the Buckeyes ass. Some people live in a dream world. Again...
Read moreHello,
I wanted to reach out to whomever this is applicable for regarding a local establishment in Sunbury Ohio. 11/8/2015 My party of three were attempting to dine at the Sunbury Grill AT 38 E Cherry st, Sunbury Ohio. While waiting for our food to be prepared I noticed several alarming practices. The main prep cook wore no gloves and i did not witness him wash his hands once in the 1 hr that we observed him. At one point he had raw egg on his hands from cracking eggs. flicked the raw egg off his finger onto the grill, then using his bare hand with raw egg on it, grabbed cooked bacon to stage on a plate and served it to a patron. He then proceeded into the back to grab more product. opening and closing the wooden door that divides their establishment and heading directly back to the grill to begin preping what infact was our order. He proceeded to place a tortilla on the grill and place his bare hands on the tortilla and hold it to the grill to begin preparing my siblings breakfast burrito. I immediately went up to him to cancel out our order.
There seems to be an Alarming lack of Knowledge regarding food safety practices particularly in the area of cross contamination of the food they are prepping. I am not one that generally blows whistles on small business nor one to cry wolf. I genuinely do have concern for the community This establishment is serving. If the Staff is willing to do these things in the public's view, it has raised concerns as to what may be happening else where with-in the...

The staff? Incredible. They all have amazing personalities, very caring for their customers, know many of their customers by name and will take care of you!!!
The food is even better. I had the Sunbury Slammer which is biscuits, eggs, home fries, smothered in sausage gravy and sprinkled with cheese. Come hungry for this because it’s a lot!!!! I couldn’t stop eating it. Great flavor, the portion was massive.
The French toast, sausage gravy and biscuits and grilled cheese (chef kiss). So good. The price is very reasonable.
Personally I loved the “professional” wrestling decor on the walls and the Ohio State pictures, etc. The signs were also funny but the staff is also fun. The owner I saw, made a point to go to each table to check in with everyone.
We got there at around 11am on a Sunday and had a 30min wait. Too easy and well worth it for our first time. If we can wake up enough on the weekend, we will absolutely be back. As someone who LOVES to sleep in and hates waking up early…it’s kinda worth it…
As a note, my dads frequent and highly...
