I'm confused why this place is so popular.
Our friends told us this place gets very busy, so we agreed to meet for dinner at 5:30PM on a Thursday. At this point there were still available tables, which was handy.
We ordered three things--dak galbi, bossam and doenjang jiggae. Dak galbi: Ehh, nothing special. The fried rice that was made with the tail end of it was very salty and mushy. More like mixed rice than fried. Bossam: It it our preference to eat bossam, chilled, with fresh lettuce and radish wraps. Here, the pork came on a little hot plate atop a flame. The sides were napa kimchi, radish kimchi and raw oysters. Doenjang jiggae: I mean I make this at home. We ordered it because nothing else on the menu stood out to us, and we needed more food.
Another review mentioned that they were generous with the side dishes--we didn't think so. Maybe we came on a funky day?
When we departed the restaurant around 6:30PM, there were many families...
Read moreI am so glad that Ive finally found a place that satisfies my cravings for pork rib soup! The soup was really good! The soup contains many pork ribs pieces, with some vegetables, and rice cakes. The pork ribs are filled with flavor, and cooked to super tender. AND!!!! when you are almost done with the soup, they put 2 bowls of rice into the soup and mix it into a kimchi rice dish. The rice ends up absorbing all the goodness in the soup and it is so flavorful! The seafood pancake was heavenly as well. Not only that it contains actual seafood, but also the pancake was the perfect texture, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. It was seasoned very well with scallion and some other magical stuff. The palace gets a bit busy around dinner time but the staff are super friendly and helpful, and they try really hard to make your experience more pleasant despite...
Read moreAuthentic, home-style Korean restaurant! It's a no-frills ambiance, and they're serious about the Korean food here. What's most unique and interesting on their menu is their "hot pots", which are served in large iron pots over a gas burner. They have everything from ribs to pig parts served in these hot pots, which are meant to be shared between two people. We tried the spicy pork ribs with kimchee, and it was not bad, but I wish the pork was better marinated and had more flavor. They were able to tone down the spiciness per our request, which was nice of them. At the end, you can also choose to add kimchi fried rice to the iron hot pot, and it has a nice heat to it.
We also ordered the seafood pancake and a soup with yellow croaker, which was more than enough food for four people. The uniqueness of the dishes would definitely...
