A Top Contender for Korean Fried Chicken Lovers
This restaurant is currently one of the highest-rated fried chicken spots on delivery apps like Uber Eats and DoorDash—and it’s easy to see why once you try the food.
I visited around 6:00 PM on a Friday, right during their peak hours, and the experience was well worth it. The fried chicken is full of flavor and clearly made fresh to order.
What sets this place apart is the incredible variety of chicken options: • Prefer your chicken with or without sauce? No problem. • Sauce lovers can choose from a wide range including cheddar and yangnyeom. • Want something less greasy? They offer eight oven-baked chicken options. • Like it spicy? Choose your heat level: Mild, Medium, Hot, or XXXHot.
They also have a generous selection of Korean side dishes like kimbap and tteokbokki, and if you’re craving cheese, the Cheese Buldak won’t disappoint.
Not a meat eater? You might be in the wrong place, but they’ve got you covered too—with fancy ramyun machines and a bunch of customizable noodle toppings (egg, sausage, cheese, etc.).
I also found it refreshing that they use larger drumsticks. Many fried chicken spots go for smaller ones, which often cook and season better. But this restaurant’s use of larger drumsticks offers a nice variety—and they work. They’re coated in a thick layer of batter and drenched in sauce, which adds bold flavor and rich texture that stands out from other places.
The fried chicken here tends to be on the softer side with a thicker batter that soaks up the sauce well—something you might love or dislike depending on your preference.
The flavor, however, is consistently great, and I was especially impressed by the huge selection. Compared to chains like B.B.Q Chicken, this spot offers much more variety, giving it a strong...
Read moreService and food was terrible. My friend and I had to literally get up from our table to find a server to take our order and serve water after sitting/looking around and waiting 15 minutes. Once our order was taken we waited over 35 minutes for a very simple plate a fried chicken to be served. I am normally not a picky eater but in this case the honey butter chicken plate was disgusting. I was served 5 heavily fried chicken drums on a plate with DUMPED MOUNDS of some terrible white powder that had the most awful rotten sweet smell to it. The powder was some sad excuse of a fake, aspartame filled, sugar mess that mimicked the fatty goodness of butter and sugar. The meal was relatively pricey for what I got so I tried to eat some but had to stop after half a drumstick because I knew I'd be sick if I kept eating. I couldn't eat it. That's how gross it was. Once again I and my friend had to get up to find a server to give us the bill. I told the waitress, when asked, that I couldn't eat the food they had served me and the waitress told me without care, "Well, Korean people like it." I don't think any normal human pallet would find what I was served appetizing. I had to go to a cafe close by and order a smoothie just to get the flavor of that "food" out of my mouth. I was extremely disappointed in my experience at their restaurant. It was a waste of...
Read moreThis little restaurant, self titled a "chicken beer cafe," is located at the end of a small strip mall right next to Hankook supermarket, so while parking may be rough on weekends, it was fine on a weekday evening after work. The name and generic icon make it look like an American chicken eatery (reminiscent of KFCs which is literally across the street from this place), but the menu actually has an interesting if somewhat odd combination of roasted chicken flavors/styles: seemingly Chinese (wine and green onion chicken), Korean (boneless ssam), plus various fried chicken offerings. I'm not familiar with Korean chicken cuisine, so maybe these are all considered Korean. ::shrug:: The place had good business on a random Wednesday night, but was not overcrowded. The decor is good, too -- clean, simple, with plenty of seating, and a large flat-screen TV near the entrance. I had the garlic chicken, which came with 2 small side dishes of pickled veggies. It had a really tasty sweet soy/garlicky glaze. I'll have to try the other flavors in the future. It's fairly pricey, though, for chicken -- $12 for a "half serving" -- that equals 5 average-sized drumsticks, 10 wings, or 10 pieces of boneless chicken breast. But the flavoring is definitely unique and quite good. I'll...
