I was really excited to try Rajbhog Thali, but it turned out to be a major disappointment. Typically, thali places are packed on weekends, yet this restaurant was nearly empty despite the full parking lot. That should have been a red flag!
I ordered a To-Go Thali for $25, expecting a fulfilling meal, but the portion size was shockingly small compared to other thali spots in the Bay Area. Worse, their so-called "Rajasthani Thali" was only 30% Rajasthani, while the rest felt like leftovers from a nearby South Indian buffet.
Here’s what went wrong: ❌ Gatte ki Sabji – Came with just 2 pieces of gatta. ❌ Bati – Rock hard and drowned in bland dal. ❌ Dahi Wada – South Indian style, not Rajasthani. ❌ Beans Sabji – Overloaded with masala, like something from Ulavacharu. ❌ Biryani – Smelled and tasted like leftovers from a lunch buffet. Zero Rajasthani touch. ❌ Aloo Rassa – Small potatoes with peels, and all I could taste were the peels. ❌ Paneer Sabji – Again, South Indian-style with raw masala flavors. Only thing that was decent was their punjabi kadhi which I have to eat with birani. I love good South Indian food, even more than North Indian, but this was just bad South Indian food misrepresented as Rajasthani. Unfortunately, this place is a one-time visit only. Definitely not worth the hype or the price.

This place is a total disaster. It’s not just poor service — it felt like a scam.
I saw an elderly uncle politely asking for puri, and even he was getting ignored and treated with irritation. He had been waiting for over an hour. I waited half an hour just to get a pappad, and still couldn’t get proper curry. Every curry lacked salt and taste, and rice/rolls were served in tiny portions. When we asked for more, the staff would vanish.
The entire atmosphere was tense — everyone looked upset, and the serving staff seemed angry and rude, like they didn’t even want to be there. The person who took our name disappeared midway, and it was chaos after that.
In the end, I just left the food uneaten because there was nothing to eat it with. It’s honestly heartbreaking to see such a mess when people are paying $20 for what they think is going to be a decent meal.
I don’t know why people run businesses like this just to make a quick buck. If karma is real, I truly hope the people behind this will learn their lesson. This is not how you treat people. We all earn money through hard work — don’t let yours go to waste here.
Please, please don’t go. Save your money, your time, and your...
Read moreWe went to Rajbhog Thalia to taste the Marathi Thali.
The wait time was about 15min and we were served food in about 20min which is ok because the restaurant was almost full. I was disappointed as soon as I saw the menu board,I was expecting more of the Maharashtrian dishes but the menu had more of the North Indian options like Paneer Lababdar,Veg Hariyali,Masala Baigan etc.
The pooris and Rotis were made fresh but the waiters were so slow and reluctant in serving. The Rotis were very oil so we requested for the ones without oil, which never arrived. The waiters were serving properly only in the mid seating area. That was really disappointing. The batata Vada was undercooked/not fried properly. For some reason the waiters were not serving those vadas even if they had it in the basket. The sides/curries were very basic,we could only eat Sukhi Batata Bhaji and Dal. Kadi had some weird taste and smell. Masala Baigan had raw tomato smell and Matta was actually Chaas. The Rava Sheera was decent. Veg Hariyali and Paneer Lababdar were ok. Overall it was like North Indian Thali with only 2-3 Maharashtrian dishes. And the service is really not good. I probably won't...
