Wow! My wife and I have lived here for two years. During that time we have been searching for a good burger/hot dog place. We have tried so many and been highly disappointed. Then we stumbled upon Surf Dawgs. What a gem! Totally awesome! Pulling into the parking lot, the building had a warm and welcoming beach vibe. When we went inside, we were greeted by a smiling and friendly staff. They were kind and helped with menu questions/suggestions. The place was super clean and nicely decorated. We felt welcome and comfortable. Now the food--stunning, delicious, and awesome! I had the Carolina Coast burger. It was cooked to perfection. It was loaded with homemade chili, slaw, and fried onions. They don't skimp on the toppings. The crispy seasoned fries were just the way I like them. They were even better dipped in the Surf sauce. My wife had the J-Reuben Smash. The double patties with the corned beef was unique and delicious. She had extra Surf sauce for dipping. She kept commenting on how good her sandwich was. She also had a side of slaw. It was exactly the way she likes it. She's very picky about slaw. We ate it all. We were very impressed.
They have good portions, reasonable prices, friendly staff, and cozy atmosphere. We have found our burger/hot dog place. Give this place a try--you will not be disappointed. And you will be supporting a...
Read moreDisappointed in the food and the HIGH prices! Will not go back. Two hamburgers, each $15.00, two shakes $7.00 each. Total $47.52! And not good. No upgrades as is suggested by the comment from Surf Dawgs. It’s a very very small place with very little seating and looks like a hamburger joint with cool decor. The buns were fried top and bottom and squished into the meat, they were a greasy mess for $15.00 each, (all the other hamburgers are $16.00 each) i’ve never seen a restaurant do that to a hamburger, both sides of the bun were barely 1/4 inch thick. They should take it off their menu. Two shakes, they were ok, but not worth $7.00 each. The fries were good.
In response to Surf Dawgs comment below, I am not confused. You are the one that’s confused with maybe another customer. I did not get any premium toppings at all, and the only thing I asked for on my regular fries was light salt. That’s it. If I had added premium toppings and upgraded the fries to specialty fries the cost would’ve been more. If the hamburger had been good enough to justify the price I would adjust my rating....
Read moreI’m not a hot dog guy, so when my family wanted to try this place at first I didn’t really want to go. But I realized they have smash burgers too and the neon sign out front looked legit so I was in. I got the Aloha Burger, and it was easily one of the best burgers I’ve ever eaten. Fries come with any burger so I just got plain fries and they were solid…slightly battered like I like them. The guy at the counter heard me tell my wife I’m not a hot dog guy, and he swore I’d like these. I denied it, saying I only like mine charred if I was going to have one. The cook came out and grabbed a dog, grilled it for me and asked me what I wanted on it. He said “it’s on the house”. I got the one with melted cheese and bacon called the Soul Dawg. Well, he was right…it was amazing. Flavorful like a sausage almost. You’ll love this place…cool atmosphere, great food, great service.
Update: my wife and son and his girlfriend were the very first to order the hot dog tower! 6 dawgs, 3 orders of fries, and 6 dipping sauces. I highly recommend...
