I was excited for Fung Mei’s “reopening,” but it was disappointing. Their menu is filled with American-Chinese dishes. We asked if they had another menu and they didn’t. The waiter actually mentioned that multiple people asked the same question. We ordered mapo tofu, sautéed green beans (not on the menu), salt and pepper squid, boiled fish fillet with chili stew, and the sautéed eight delicacies. The fish dish was served when we were basically done eating, which by the way is NOT 水煮魚; the fish is fried and the sauce is quite sweet. The sauce itself is not bad, but the fish did not need to be fried. They put in so much more work to have it come out mediocre. Mapo tofu tasted like it came out of a box. Salt and pepper squid needed more seasoning and was not fried long enough. The seafood delicacy is not worth $29. Overall, very disappointed in our experience. I really want to support them and was hoping the restaurant be one we can return to often as it’s close by, but unless they’re revising the menu and working out the kinks, it’s not my taste. Interior is okay, I have never been in the previous restaurant so I don’t know what has been changed. There is ample parking. Service was okay. It was quite busy and was a wait from 6-7:30pm on the weekend. By 8, there was no longer a wait. Except for the fish, food was served really quickly.

This place is not your typical Chinese food place. You can taste and see the level of care they put into not only their food but the atmosphere when you walk in. The food was fresh and still hot even when I ordered for pickup (and I was late) and still tasted great. Best part is that the portions were so big, I had leftovers for the next day. I highly recommend anyone who is craving GOOD Chinese food but has been hurt too many times by other establishments. This place is a guaranteed good, I promise. I can't wait to come back and try their other options. I had the wonton soup and the Mapu Tofu. I don't even like Tofu much but this place made me a fan. My wife had the sweet and sour soup and the Udon Noodle soup. It was delicious and I highly recommend it to anyone willing to give it a try. Update: (still a 5 out of 5) I went back for lunch at work and each one of my coworkers have talked about coming back with their families later. Maybe we should gatekeep this place because it's amazing. Ate inside and had Mongolian beef, orange chicken, sesame chicken, and broccoli and beef combos with egg drop soup.

Went yesterday to try Fung Mei for the first time (taking over the orient garden - which I did enjoy). The atmosphere is very pretty & refine with plenty of light. Staff is friendly. The menu is very nice quality - very classy and great selection. The only thing I will say that there is no full description of what dish includes and how it is made nor does it say if white rice or fried rice is a choice to have with your dish (you are asked which one you would like at the time of ordering). So for example, I ordered the Salt & Pepper short ribs. When I received my plate the presentation was very nice but I did not expect the short ribs to be deep fried in like a tempura batter so that would of been nice to know because that would've been the deal breaker whether I wanted the deep fried batter dish or not (I don't like to eat too much of it). The ribs were placed on a bed of onions and bell peppers ( I like both but again nothing is said on the description of the menu that their included). The flavor was very good. But I am glad I was not with a group of people or on a date because I really don't want to be eating around a rib bone in my mouth (this was how the majority of the rib pieces were - with bone) and then displaying in front of everyone as I take the bone out of my mouth. I'm just sayin! Rice was in a separate bowl. I think the white rice should of been laid down on the bottom, then the bell peppers & onion, then the rib pieces. Portions are well balanced for what I paid for. I did end up taking 1/2 of my meal home. So if I am in the mood for this dish again, I'll have it for take out only due to that the rib bones are left in. Service was a little slow, however, I really wasn't in a hurry to be somewhere. There is no free soup (won ton or hot a sour) so I ordered the Won Ton. Very tasty. No alcohol - I was told it will be around 2 weeks until they...
