Milpa Cantina — Restaurant in Suwanee

[Long review incoming]

It’s a party of 7 on Mother’s Day 2023. Even with understanding how busy it can be, I experienced the worst service in my entire life, not an exaggeration.

Our waitress, who’s allegedly also the manager, took at least 20 minutes to take our meal orders. We almost felt forgotten. The wait for the food is understood. However, out of the 7 of us food came out at various times, and one of us didn’t even get any food at all. At this point, the restaurant was virtually empty. One of us got our food and wondered what it was. The waitress came out from the kitchen, took the plate from the table, looked underneath the plate and took it back to the kitchen. We never saw the plate again. When one of us had a concern of the food and it’s presentation, it was dismissed by the waitress. Just to add, we ordered the fried pork and it was white, we had to send it back to be fried more. When it was all said and done, the waitress tended to other duties instead of our concerns and complaints. We had to signal to another waitress to get address our concerns.

Social media and the aesthetics of the restaurant do NOTHING to cover for the horrendous quality control in the kitchen and amongst the staff. I will never come here again.

Finally, for better Mexican food, I STRONGLY recommend Pepe’s Mexican...

This was honestly one of the most awkward experiences I’ve had in a restaurant. We came here to celebrate Mother’s Day and over half of my family received wrong orders or no order at all? One plate was given to my moms boyfriend and taken away 10-15 minutes later, not a sanitary thing to do, hopefully they threw it out. Idk though. He never even receive his correct order. Nothing was fixed, nor were we even checked on to see if everything was okay, we had to track down another waitress to get ours to come to our table. After we complained, we didn’t pay for anything which was a good solution but unfortunately won’t be returning. Our waitress kindly explained the situation and it’s understandable but unacceptable, we weren’t communicated about any delays or anything. We tried so hard to like this restaurant, but our actual experience was nothing like what you would expect based on their social media pages....

I was excited, the ambience/atmosphere were vey nice. Looking through the photos of people’s dining plates and entrees it looked amazing. I ordered the quesabirra tacos. I’m a big fan of birra tacos. It came out, the presentation was sparse and looked mediocre at best. So what. It’s tacos, right? It was super oily on the plate. The tortillas were covered in oil. I know birra has a rendered fat dipping sauce, but the tortillas were so oily, I put an ice cube in the oil on the plate. It didn’t thicken or coagulate. It was just oil all over the tacos. I was terribly disappointed and only ate one taco. The order came with 3. I’ll never be back. You have all the stops, but to fail at one of the most basic Hispanic recipes.
