My adult children had previously introduced me to Mi Cozumel, albeit at a different locale, so when the enticing banners at Kenwood Towne Mall beckoned, my family and I decided to sample their offerings via carry-out on a recent mall visit.
Stepping inside, the restaurant's aesthetic immediately makes an impression. The decor is refreshingly modern and appealing, boasting comfortable fabric-covered chairs, ambient lighting, and tastefully placed pictures and statuary that create a very inviting atmosphere. The service mirrored this positive first impression; we were met with a warm greeting upon entry, promptly provided with menus, and received polite, detailed explanations for any menu items we inquired about. Our carry-out order was prepared with surprising speed, ready in what felt like less than ten minutes.
However, the true test, the food itself, could only be assessed later. My wife's beef burrito, served with sour cream, tomatoes, and lettuce, proved to be quite underwhelming. Her primary complaint was a distinct lack of flavor, describing it as bland, and the accompanying sauce as watery.
My own order, an Al Pastor Quesadilla, came with a rather unconventional side of french fries, as listed on the menu. I requested pineapple as a substitute, a request they graciously honored, though the fries still made their way into the bag. While my quesadilla was generously filled with meat, onions, and pineapple, offering a noticeable flavor, it wasn't quite what I had anticipated. The pico de gallo I ordered separately was similarly disappointing—watery and only a faint echo of the vibrant flavors one expects.
Overall, I'd assign this experience a three out of five stars. While the bright lights, appealing decor, and stellar service create an initial positive impression, the "so-so" quality of the food, which should undoubtedly be the primary draw, ultimately falls short. My immediate inclination was to write off Mi Cozumel as a "pass." Still, I've considered that perhaps a future visit for a drink might be worthwhile, though even then, I temper my expectations. The colorful beverages I observed might, much like the decor, prove to be more of a visual distraction than a truly...
Read moreWe arrived for a dinner reservation. Immediately our table was not ready. They did not accommodate our party size. After waiting, we finally started ordering drinks. First the round of waters came out. Then the alcohol drinks. The server brought a "flight" of drinks to the table and in the process of putting the board down, the server spilled 2 whole cups of water on us "the guest". We asked to speak to the manager and this one server keep lying and pretending he was the manager. He was unwilling to compensate for the water being spilled all over our laps. We asked a different server to grab a manger and someone else came over to speak with us. It's sad they expected us to sit for hours soaking wet from the water, as we was a party of 30 and we had only been served waters and some drinks! Very...
Read moreFun place club environment. Reminds me of San Antonio and Miami Beach with the decor. You can come solo and still enjoy your experience. They have a roving guacamole bar handmade in front of your tale. I came with my son then my daughter’s friends tagged along for a post dinner drink. They made her friend feel special for her Sweet 16. They go to great lengths to make the drinks personalized. We like that it is conveniently located inside the Kenwood Towne Centre Mall where you can start or end...
