Wow, so great to have a place like this in Sylvania - or just generally, the Toledo area. This will be a routine stop for me every time I visit my family in the Sylvania area on visits from the west coast. Very much appreciate the healthy options for a vegetarian. At most places, the veggie options (if they exist at all…why does every salad in Ohio by default come with meat again!?) are carb heavy or things that are fried in some fashion.
I had their coffee, pressed juices, bagel sandwich, and an assortment of their oat bars. I didn’t try their vegan ice cream, but it looked really good and will bring my kids here to try it out some time.
If they could change anything, I think it would be their branding. I never ventured in here, assuming it was just an ice cream place. On a recent visit, I noticed the words “coffee” very small on the window. Curiosity got the better of me, and I ventured in. Yes, they do happen to have ice cream, but they also have many other kinds of items. Instead of being an ice cream shop, I think they should refocus their branding on being a healthy eating (e.g. vegan, veggie, gf friendly) establishment that just happens to also sell ice cream. I can also tell from some of the reviews that focusing on ice cream may be hurting them as people come in expecting one thing, and then leave disappointed (i.e. people looking for more traditional dairy-based products - which let’s face it, in Toledo, is going to basically be almost everyone as this place is very meat eater focused…this isn’t California, no matter more hard you try or want it to be different than it is). I probably would have checked this place out way sooner had I known it has great options for vegetarians, which I’m always seeking out when I visit the area. I wasn’t interested in the ice cream, but everything else looked/sounded great - change the branding, and you may start attracting the few vegetarians in the area....
Read moreIf you're vegan, lactose intolerant, celiac, or gluten free, this place is a God send!! I am on the AIP protocol at the moment and they had ice cream flavors that were on the approved list! The honey they use to sweeten tastes so pure! Can't believe I was able to have ice cream on such a strict diet!
I was shocked this resturaunt only had a 4.0 and come to find out its cause people didn't realize the ice cream was vegan and didn't like the taste. Reviews like that negatively affect people like me who cant tolerate a lot of ingredients and NEED businesses like this to thrive so we can still experience normal things like going out for ice cream. We need this business to stay afloat cause there's not a lot of resturaunts people with celiacs can go to due to cross contamination risk.
Tldr: Dairy lovers, this place is not meant for your taste buds but is for my dairy-free ones!
Today was my first time and I'll be back for...
Read moreIt was my first time there during the hippie fest, and it was very disappointing. No one greeted our party when we walked in to the store and it was not busy. The workers were just standing at the counter, not interested in the customers. They did not ask if we had any questions about the menu or offer to help in any way. I had to ask twice for a napkin, and the girl just pointed across the store over to the side like I was bothering her. The items that we tried were not worth the price. For the price being paid, the cups of ice cream were not even full and very small. I was excited to try this new local business, but I will not be back. The ice cream wasn’t bad, but it was not worth the experience. We will be going to Mayberry where they are friendly...
