Amazing food & legendary sangrias
PEOPLE OF COLOR BEWARE: You may/may not be welcomed here . I had a incident that made me feel EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE tonight. I visited Poco Piatti an hour before the close of business. There was about 5 guest sitting at the bar. As soon as I walked in the door, the individuals were looking at me laughing and one of them said, "Omg look at her hair." (I have in beautiful neat braids with hints of blonde and browns) The comment and laughters caught the attention of both the host and I. He proceeded to ask me if I wanted to sit at the tables (which wasn't accompanied by any other guest) or at the bar with the others (his exact words). I told him that I didn't even feel welcomed or comfortable staying; and I would order my food to go.
I felt like the situation was swept under the rug because the guest were regulars. He also mentioned that they were "just drunk." I followed up by asking if they had a cut off period for wine or alcohol for "drunk" guest and he said no.
I felt a sense of relief when I seen another woman walk in the door with a smile on her face. He didn't even ask her if she wanted to sit at the bar, with the others. (If your wondering, yes she was, and yes the "others" were)
I strongly dislike how the situation was handled and I feel like I was basically told to "just get over it." because the guest are privileged. As mentioned before, the food is amazing but I'll probably never...
Read moreReview Update: I will bump this up to 5 stars with an asterisk. We went as a family. We had a great time. The food was fantastic...mostly and the service was great...mostly. The kitchen and bar were extremely slow. They were busy but it's not that big of a place. The other issue we had was with the lollipop lamb chop entrée. They took forever, we were almost done eating and when they finally came out, they looked like they had already been eaten. For the price that was extremely disappointing. They did remake them and eventually they were delicious as we were getting ready to walk out the door. Other than that though we had a good time.
I'm giving this 4 stars for the food only because I have a small sample size to rate it from. My wife got grape leaves that she was not impressed with. We both got desert and drinks that we were more than satisfied with. Will rate again once we've tried more of the actual menu. Bar service was excellent. The decor was simple and I think they were trying to achieve elegant maybe but it doesn't quite get there. It felt like someone trying to pass off a nice food cart as a restaurant. Simple, cozy maybe, but it's more like eating lunch in a nice breakroom of a family business. I was not blown away but I was not disappointed, so that's a solid...
Read moreI came in for a lunch in October with some friends, food quality and freshness was excellent. Thereafter, we wanted to try out the new poco piatti branch with my family for dinner. Our first dinner experience was a disaster. Food was overly salty, including my entree and the appetizer cauliflour Raw and over salted, and all 4 of us, including my kids, had gastritis after eating at Pocopiatti. Lamb shank was cooked terribly with undercooked canned tomato and no added flavour to the shank.
We thought it was a fluke. And gave the restaurant another try. This time again for dinner and takeout. Food was overly salty, and again, 4 of us came down with gastritis after eating take out at Poco Piatti. My baby is still throwing up, 1.5 days later.
my conclusion is that the restaurant is well intended, but during dinner they have terrible cooks, and something should be done about the quality and cleanliness of their food. Never coming back and will be sharing our 2 dinner experiences with...
