Tropical Smoothie Cafe — Restaurant in Sylvania

We visit this location often. On our most recent visit 3/23/24 we came sometime between 1-3pm. There seemed to be some tension between employees this day. Then we noticed a taller skinny brunette girl that had a tattoo wrapped around her hand/wrist. She looked visibly very angry. While handing out smoothies to us (and every customer for the next roughly 45 minutes) she would yell the the names of customers in a very angry tone, then roll her eyes as she handed the smoothie off to them. I’ve never seen someone actively try to let everyone in a business know how angry they are. As she continued in her fit of anger she ended up dropping a blender, smoothie splatter all around, and she proceeded to yell and walk into the restroom. Once out of the restroom it was noticeable that she had been crying or was actively crying. Then went right back to yell at customers in a very angry tone and rolling her eyes…. all until a customer confronted her about the awful attitude.

Overall, a very bad experience. Not sure what was wrong with this employee but her peers and management failed to intervene for roughly an hour. Allowing her negative attitude impact every customer. Very sad. no employee should be this upset. In the end I felt bad for the young girl due to the lack of care management had to not even pull her aside or allow her to step away from making smoothies...

I work in this strip and come to Tropical smoothie probably a little too frequently for my lunches(as do all of my coworkers, it’s so close and easy). Times of day I come in bath, ways of a ordering vary too. I started ordering at the register, then switched to their app. If you like to order online at all I highly recommend the app very easy to use. This store has always had amazing customer service. I have never waited more than 5 minutes for my order even when I put the order in while walking over, I come in 2 minutes later, they ask my name, and then quickly get my smoothie finished up. These workers work hard to make sure they are provided quick and efficient customer service, every time my experience is phenomenal no matter what I order. Tropical has definitely become my lunch safety food, and an overall amazing treat for the long, draining days. He is probably a boomer who has never had to work a service job in his life and grew up during an era where inflation wasn't eating into his savings and he could afford housing on a single income. What do you expect Ken, for employees to worship the ground you walk on when you leave $2? They're already overwhelmed trying to handle multiple responsibilities all at once. Leave them alone. Whoever the owner is, please know that most of us love this place. I go here regularly. Smoothies are great, place is clean, food is good, and staff is courteous. Please do not feel like you have to force employees to cater to the massive egos of douchenozzles like Ken. Ken needs therapy not...
