Skip's Bagel Deli (Original Location) - Breakfast - Sandwiches/Salads - Catering/Delivery — Restaurant in Symmes Township

I visited Skips for the first time about 8 weeks ago and was impressed by the selection and quality. I typically get a dozen a bagels for home on the weekend and the odd breakfast sandwich during the week. This past Saturday (July 2), I stopped in about 1 and waited by the bagel bins to order a dozen bagels (this is what they call the self service area). There were only about 3 other customers in the store, who already had their order - so no other customers waiting. There were no less than 7 employees gathered around the making station (near the monitor) watching one employee make a sandwich. Several of the employees caught my eye, but did not bother to greet or come over to take my order. Finally one employee from the far end of the store behind the counter walked down to the bagel bin area, gave me a look, and then left through the double doors, apparently done for the day (which is fine), but again did not bother to tell anyone to take my order. After another minute waiting by the bagel bins, with the employees still gathered around the making station watching one person work, I walked out. So, decent bagels, but customer service pretty poor, at least on this day...

My staff, go to this place regularly, almost daily. We ordered bagels and 2 cream cheese, when we opened the bag one container for cream cheese was filled with warm chicken salad and has pungent smell, we called to let them know of the mistake but they did not seem to believe us, so I brought the funky chicken salad 1. to inform them in case they have spoiled batch to avoid any food poisoning incident 2. To show them that they in fact made a mistake , but the girl behind the counter refused to take it, I left it on the counter so she can toss it in the trash or maybe let the kitchen staff know but instead started running her mouth and when I calmly ask why, she just started arguing and raising her voice and still would not stop talking and hid in the kitchen, yet… still talking, totally disrespectful very poor customer service , I understand there is a shortage of staff but does not mean your staff can freely verbally abuse your customers. I managed restaurants before, I understand customer service and the temperature regulations to prevent food going bad. BTW, your bagels and cream cheese are not even that...

Ordered salmon, caper, cream cheese, lettuce, tomato onion on everything bagel. They forgot capers, which is key ingredient for this combo. But gave me a side when I went back up to counter. Everything bagel has coarse salt on it (think carnival pretzel), which overpowers all other flavors, so I had to ditch the top half of the bagel. First time I've ever seen a bagel salted... and it was too much. Portion size was good.

Also got potato salad which was good.

And a cinnamon crunch bagel with apple cinnamon cream cheese, which was really tasty; though I do think Panera's cinnamon sugar bagel beats it.

I would return but definitely stay away from the salty...
