Good matcha, drink quality is almost always very good. I personally haven’t had any issues with the employees and their customer service except for a few times where the drink comes out incorrectly. However, it is disheartening to see the way they reply to some reviews and it makes me reluctant to visit JJ lately (more below).
It is SO good that we travel from Seattle to Tacoma occasionally to have it as a little treat however it is clear that the owner(s) have some issues taking criticism or feedback based on their responses on Google + an Instagram story that was posted a few weeks ago. As someone who has worked for a long time in customer service, it is never that promising when the person in charge isn’t able to handle criticism without giving a snide remark, or putting people down (for example, a review where they told someone “sounds like you could use some chamomile instead” obviously telling them they need to chill out for just giving THEIR OWN honest review, and it unfortunately turns me off from the company in a way.
This business is still relatively new so it is clear that the business has some growing to do, and I really hope they can do so because the drinks are very good!
Excited to visit them in Seattle and see their cafe; hopefully Jin Jin can turn things around in regard to their social media presence and review replies. Best of luck, Jin Jin!
Drink suggestions: Rose matcha with almond milk + pistachio matcha with almond milk! Can’t go wrong...
Read moreAfter reading the reviews, I was so excited for my visit to Jin Jin Matcha this Saturday with some friends. The space is decorated so aesthetically and there are plenty of seating areas. I also appreciated that my iced matcha was in the $7 range which is very comparable to other cafes and affordable. My matcha on the other hand was a big letdown. I ordered an iced lavender matcha latte and it tasted neither like lavender or matcha, but slightly sweet milk. The flavor was very underwhelming, not what I anticipated for a matcha cafe. This is a beverage I order often when trying new cafes as well as make at home and this wasn’t meeting the expectations. One thing I felt was missing from the cafe was any type of pastry or cold food item, when meeting with friends or utilizing a location, as a customer I always appreciate a light snack or food option. I was also very put off by the several signs around the location to ask before taking any photos. As someone who loves to share great locations with others and capture experiences, I was put off. Love the location, did not love my matcha, but give this location a try and see...
Read moreI love their matcha, it’s really good! I’ve been coming here whenever I need a refreshing drink. Their teas are handcrafted right in front of you, which is such a treat to watch.
The atmosphere is super welcoming, with plenty of cozy seating where you can relax and enjoy the vibe. It’s especially nice after midterms or a long shift. Even when the line gets busy, you never feel rushed, it’s actually kind of calming.
I’ve tried quite a few things on their menu. The range is impressive! Along with their ceremonial (premium) matcha from Japan, they also serve Hojicha, Chai, and Pu’er. Their rose matcha is especially popular, and for good reason, it tastes smooth and delicate with every sip. In the photo, I ordered the pistachio matcha, which has a buttery, earthy flavor that’s really satisfying.
Though their hours are a bit limited, I think it adds to the charm. It feels like a place made for unwinding rather than just grabbing a quick drink. It can get busy, but the wait is totally worth it for something fresh and...
