When you travel, you have to eat at airports, at least on occasion. We all know airport food is overpriced, but we are usually left with no other choice and the convenience of airport restaurants makes it necessary to dine at them so that you remain close to your gate. The need for food and brew while at the Tampa airport led me to Ducky’s.
There was a large crowd at Ducky’s when I visited. I was alone, so I just dropped the idea of waiting for a table and went straight for the bar. I ordered a beer and asked for a menu. The beers included locally brewed beer, so I was pleased with that, since I like to sample local food and drink when I travel.
Service was slow when I arrived at Ducky’s, due to the larger than average crowd. When I finally did get a chance to place an order, I asked for the steak quesadilla. I was very hungry and finished it off, but it was quite greasy and you could see the puddle of grease in the bottom of the tray. Again, I was so hungry I didn’t care, but I could feel the effects of all that grease on my flight home.
Like I said, the beer selection at Ducky’s is good and I did appreciate that the wait staff did their best to accommodate the heavy crowd without losing their patience. Again, the food wasn’t the greatest but when I think about the tasty beers and pleasant time spent chatting with others at the bar, Ducky’s earns enough of my respect to award it an average...
Read moreWe ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich and chicken quesadilla at the take out counter. We decided to eat at one of their table. One of the servers told the server who placed our order to switch us to table service. At this point, I paid for the meal with a tip. We looked a while for a clean table and found one that was partially cleaned. A server arrived with a menu and utensils. We told the server that we had already placed our order and handed our receipt. After waiting for over 5 minutes, the supervisor brought our cold food to the table. We sent the food back to be remade or reheated. The supervisor brought our order, which was still cold. The chicken sandwich bun was covered with what looked like burned crumbs from the grill. We requested a refund. The supervisor told us that the manager she spoke to on the phone told her that our refund could not be processed on site. We were told we need to email corporate for a refund. After given an incomplete email address, we were told we would need to email our credit card number for a refund. The supervisor attempted to argue with us, saying that we didn’t notify anyone that we moved to a table when in fact we notified three people. Poor customer service. We should not have to spend time on our vacation...
Read moreManagement really needs to get a grip on the staff here. As a former restaurant manager, turned insurance executive, I just SEE things. Bad behavior is SO EVIDENT if you have been in the industry. This restaurant omg. They have a bar that runs 75% around, with window side tables, but the staff treats this space like it is their livthe power cords and liyerally plain public in between tables . I literally saw one of the waitresses throw FOOD at a colleague as they were walking away. Where is the professionalism? And guest tables are NOT your living room. What’s worse is the manager allows it. He was sitting on his laptop working at the bar, didn’t offer to give me the outlet, and literally ignoring what’s happening behind him. Food on every table. Bus carts just sitting in the middle of the walkways. Employee personal belongings and or food at every table.
The bartenders are very nice. But seriously GET YOUR ISH TOGETHER . You guys look a...
