Honestly, I was so excited to finally sit down and eat after spending over an hour trying to find a place for lunch. We’re in town for a competition, and everything was packed with long waits. When we found this spot, I felt a little relief—like maybe things were finally turning around.
We walked in and ordered right away. Then we waited. And waited. I watched table after table get served—some people came in long after us and were already eating or walking out with their to-go bags. I finally got up the nerve to ask an employee if he could check on our order. He walked off and muttered, barely under his breath, “Not like we’re busy though.”
That was it. That was the moment my whole day just cracked.
You ever have one of those days where everything feels too heavy, and you’re just holding it all together with one thin thread? That was me. And that thread snapped. I walked out—left my family sitting there—because I knew if I stayed, I’d completely fall apart. I just needed to get away before I cried in front of everyone.
Later, my husband messaged to say the employee had accidentally marked our order as to-go, which is why we waited so long.
I get it—places get busy, mistakes happen. I don’t expect perfection. I just... really needed a break today. I just wanted my lunch. Instead, I’m in our hotel, still hungry, trying to calm down while staring at a vending machine.
Husband and kiddo liked the food though so...
Read moreMy coworkers and I decided to come here after passing by while looking for a place to eat. We were in the mood for sushi, and this small restaurant seemed like a good choice, as I thought they would prepare the food quickly. Unfortunately, I was very wrong.
First off, the restaurant was more crowded inside than it appeared from the outside. I understand that the time we visited was quite busy, and we ordered eight rolls but only received six. Coincidentally, the two missing rolls were mine. I noticed that others who arrived after us received their orders, and not once did the staff or the owner check in to see if we had received our food or how it was.
After 40 minutes, one of the staff members asked what I had ordered and mentioned that they were making it right then. By this time, my coworkers had already finished their meals. Frustrated, I went to the register to ask for a refund. Instead of apologizing for the delay or the mix-up, the owner dismissively told the staff to just give me my money back.
I will be telling my coworkers and anyone else I know to avoid this establishment. For local patrons, I hope you don't experience the same issues I did. In my experience, owners like this may treat you well one day but can just as quickly...
Read moreOrdered on Uber. Downtown Roll has progressively gotten worse. I’ve been a regular, but the last few times sushi has definitely gone down hill. If you even want to call it sushi. The salmon doesn’t look like salmon; it’s shredded white/light pink pasty substance. Almost like they are using imitation salmon and trying to pass it off as the real thing. I’ve kept this place in mind for a while and been a regular due to the low price, but I’m beginning to wonder what I’m actually eating and why it’s being advertised as something else. Over the time period I have been ordering, I have also watched the Downtown Roll shrink significantly in size. It would appear that there is some cost cutting going on and it’s very apparent in the quality of the food. I noticed that the roll has become mostly rice, with a really tiny avocado and whatever you want to call this salmon stuff that doesn't even have the flavor of salmon. I really hope REAL quality sushi gets used in the future in a place that advertises having real sushi. In the event that the owner would like to respond to the declining quality over the last 3 months and commit to improvements, I'd give it one last try. But until then, I'm skeptical and will order...
