Disclosure: This is the first week of operation for this hotel and as such there were some minor issues but the staff's willingness to please and exemplary service was phenomenal and made up for any glitches.
SERVICE: We are SPG platinum and the service was over-the-top; all the staff really was trying hard to please. From the initial encounter with valet to the friendly check-in by Lutrell to the wonderful recommendations and follow-up by Julie (concierge/front desk) to the awesome SPG recognition by Dan Martin, the front office manager and another manager (didnt get his name, African-American person who checked in periodically to see how everything was while we were dining at restaurant Bizou) as we were dining at Bizou Brasserie on our last night, the service was amazing and what you expect at a high-end hotel/vacation spot.
LOCATION: Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the former courthouse occupies an entire city block of North Florida Avenue between Zack and Twig Streets and was previously a customs house and post office. It underwent a $26 million renovation and became the Le Méridien Tampa.
ROOMS: The rooms are beautiful and we were fortunate to be on top floor (5th floor) The bathrooms and rooms had high class amenities and furnishings. We loved the bed and the bathroom was gorgeous!
HISTORICAL VALUE: The building is wonderful and it is great to see how the hotel has incorporated elements of its prior "life" but the buildings most notable architectural elements, including the marble and terrazzo lobby as well as its oak door frames and window casings have been preserved,
FACILITIES:
Contemporary facilities include an outdoor pool (was undergoing some construction of sort and had to be escorted to the pool which was a drag but we figured it was ok as the place made up for it in terms of service), 24-hour fitness center and ultramodern business center that features a historic judge’s bench as the primary work station.
FOOD: Bizou Brasserie’s French cuisine is located on second floor with option to also get cocktails at Longitude Bar (1st floor). We dined at Bizou on sunday night and it was quiet (sat night the place was buzzing with activity) and enjoyed our food. .. . was pleasantly surprised to see their amazing wine selection and they offered Caymus by the glass , ,, ,never have seen that and that was awesome!
SUMMARY: Yes there are some glitches but we overlooked them as felt it wasn't a deal breaker and the staff made up for it due to their phenomenal service! Yes there are some reviews that knock the place because of this but look we have traveled a lot and are SPG platinum and we know a great place when we see one and we have now found a great place to stay when we return to Tampa!. Read moreStayed here overnight for our anniversary (July 2021) and we had a fantastic time. We are from Tampa but always wanted to stay at Le Meridian. We loved the aesthetic and the design of the remodeled federal courthouse. I made my reservations through a third-party site, but let them know about the special occasion. Without prompting, the hotel upgraded our room to the Executive Suite, and a friend even bought us a nice bottle of wine for our night. The room was incredibly spacious, stylish and comfortable. It would have been perfect for couples getting married at the hotel (which friends of ours had done a few years earlier). Spacious bathroom with dual sinks, walk in shower and a sizable bathtub. The living area was also very spacious with comfortable and stylish furniture, and artwork on the wall done by a friend of mine (I had no idea until we checked in). Also a very capacious walk in closet with bins and storage for shoes, and other accessories. The bed was very comfortable, my wife and I both enjoyed sleeping in on a lazy Sunday. We caught a movie at the Tampa Theatre which was right around the corner and where I proposed to my wife. It is one of the best and most beautiful theaters in the country, and truly a Tampa treasure. A lot of other great restaurants are nearby downtown, and the Tampa Riverwalk is beautiful after dark. Don't forget to hit up Tampa's Museum of Art, Museum of the Photographic Arts, and Children's Museum for the kids. While we didn't eat our anniversary dinner at the hotel, we had to came back for drinks (including a couple complimentary drinks from Patrick at the front desk). The New Orleans themed cocktails were fantastic in the beautiful Bizou Brasserie bar, try my favorite the Sazerac. The check in and check out experience was seamless, I appreciated the textable valet service to request my car without leaving my room. While we didn't get to enjoy the pool, we popped our head out to see how they got a hotel pool comfortably nested in between the busy streets of downtown Tampa. It looked like a lot of fun and all of a sudden wished we had gotten up an hour earlier to swim. We got breakfast on the tail end of breakfast service, but the illy coffee was flowing, and our skillet breakfasts satiating. We had a fantastic time and look forward to another staycation down here again. And will definitely be recommending the hotel to family and friends visiting. From check in to check out it was a wonderful experience for our...
