I would love to say that the first time I have visited this restaurant was a good visit but it wasn’t. The server Aziz was not very polite. He was avoiding our table trying to get just one thing from someone and leaving without asking anyone else what they needed, I actually had to put my hand up so he can notice that I was trying to get his attention. He was very quick with getting away from the table like he was trying to keep as little time at the table as possible. The food came around and it was good but he did not bring the bread until we asked for it which wasn’t until after we were all done with dinner. Waiting for drink refills, I as well as others were looking around to see if we can spot him and he’s behind us looking at a guests phone gawking at photos? He’s sitting at this table just lounging while he’s on the job. One of the other servers did say something to him and pointing at our table so I’m greatly assuming he was talked to about what happened. He did also leave the tray with the salad bowl and other things on it during the course of our dinner (see photos). Food was good tho so that’s something to look forward to on a hungry stomach.

Hello my fiancé and I experience for brunch was not great at all ! We ordered 2 sandwiches and a house salad and for $14 a sandwich you would think you get a decent size sandwich right ? But nope I’ve seen peanut butter and jelly sandwiches that had more gumption. I ordered there ‘Cuban Sandwich and my fiancé had there ‘Sloppy Jose ‘ and we were definitely disappointed in the sandwich and the service we got from our server who was more attentive to her friends sitting across from us so overall terrible experience and we also took the salad to go with us and they gave us a carton container to put this salad in that already had dressing on it and it did nothing but soaked the container and the bag we put it in and leaked in our car so I don’t know but they definitely need to do better on a few different things and that’s there food ( Portion size ) and service! They may have had a bad day and I hope that’s what it was and being it was our first time I will consider going again based on a bad day assessment but if I receive that same experience I will definitely let them know that I won’t be back ! Thank you Keith

We had some time before the Lightning hockey game so went to eat at the Columbia Cafe by the water in Channel Side. It was a cool atmosphere, elevated above the street with easy views of the water. Where we sat seemed like one large back porch, very cozy and fresh. We had a table of 7, and that may have been why the service felt a little slow at times. I ordered a side salad as a starter, and I am glad I did - the main course took some time coming. I then had the scallops and plantains. I wasn’t very hungry. The scallops were delicious, but I felt $20 for five small scallops seemed a little high. The plantains were cooked just right, nice and sweet. My table mates seemed to enjoy their food and drinks. The wait staff was very friendly and courteous. The place felt clean and inviting. I would definitely go here again and recommend it to others. It was a perfect Florida evening for outdoor dining, I’m not sure how pleasant this seating would be in mid summer. I am guessing there is an indoor section also, but I didn’t wander off exploring. Thanks you staff and cooks for a great experience.

We were very well pleased with the quality of service and the food during our visit to this elegant-casual restaurant. Our waiter, an immigrant, was friendly with us, and as a fellow immigrant (I started life with a German Birth Certificate; he with a South American one) he was willing to take some time since it was not rush hour to talk with us, which I really enjoyed. The food was filling and delicious; the atmosphere (it was mid-morning) cool and nice, though the heat and humidity can get oppressive at times. However, there is usually a bit of a breeze, and the outside pavilion was wonderfully relaxing. Inside we got a treat - you MUST see the imported bar! - it is very impressive, and, if I recall, the original Italian one. The barkeep was very friendly even though we'd just walked in to take photos and do the tourist thing, and he take care to explain the history of the bar and family, and pointed out various things which we would not have known otherwise. A very nice mix of elegant old world style with modern, plus a casual touch caused by the clothes us tourists wear! :)

What a pleasant and delicious experience. I noticed the Colombia Cafe sign from passing by and immediately checked the menu online. I did call ahead of arriving to make sure reservations weren't required and I explained to him I'm walking and was a few blocks away and the man said none requred but could not say if there would be a wait time when I arrived, rude tone but I didn't let that sway me from going. When I saw the accolades given for 1905 salad, I was very curious to try it. After spending time at the aquarium and the near by beer garden we walked over to the Colombia Cafe for a light lunch and were warmly greeted. Kudos to our server Milena, she was fantastic. Very friendly and attentive. Enjoyed watching the salad being made tableside and oh my was it so good. Salad was served with warm and fresh bread and butter. The empanadas were really good, filled with seasoned ground beef and olives. She also told us about the gift shop and I bought some of the salad dressing and sangria mix to try at home.

Everyone knows about the historic and famous Columbia Restaurant in Ybor City, but not so much for this secondary location. The Ybor spot is a must, but it is more for a special experience, given the difficulty in getting a table there, which is justified. But this one is an excellent option. Situated under the Tampa Bay Historical Art Museum and between Sparkman Wharf and Amalia Arena, the restaraunt is entirely open air, but fully covered and is right on the river - a really beautiful site. It's not as hot as you might think though with breezes off the river and their fans blowing throughout. The menu is not as expansive as the Ybor location, but all the highlights are there. Excellent savory, classic entrees, sumptuous sandwiches and salads all do the trick. Excellent cheap wine. Reservations are not accepted, but so long as there is not an event at the arena, that should not pose a problem. If there is an event, then arrive by 530.
