My Wife and I just moved to the island, we were out searching for some good food,at night again. Our order was, regular degular Mac N Cheese, A Ribeye steak, and wife got boneless fried chicken "hot".
Now of course we looked at the reviews before ordering observing above average scores and we were genuinly excited to get our food. Service was as you expect go in pay, grab food, leave. Nothing amazing nothing terrible about the experience. However they were busy which was a good sign we hoped.
Now onto the food I was excited and almost drooling to pop open the Mac n cheese, and consume every bite, as they have a small section dedicated to just Mac N Cheese. But I was met with sad macaroni that had never known what melted cheese felt like. The cheese was over cooked onto the penne pasta almost fused onto the pasta. The cheese stingly poured atop the pasta, and unseasoned, devoid of any salt or pepper. Possibly one of the driest Mac n cheeses ive ever had.
The Rib eye was actually good, I asked for medium rare and I got medium rare. I'm not sure what the "local" preparation/seasonings are for a rib eye but I degress it was good... actually very good. But the potatoes were again sad, and every bite tasted like sadness and depression, as it had almost no flavor nor was it fluffy like all mashed potatoes ought to be. If you're going to serve dry mashed potatoes at least have some gravy go with it at least. Now the Okra didn't even make sense,I don't know when okra became a common side for a steak but I would definitely have opted for some steamed veggies or really ANYTHING else.
Now onto the travesty that was the chicken tenders. So first all, the meat was odd looking , it had more of the consistency of pork chop than chicken itself. Which idk I suppose you could get over or over look. BUT it wasn't even fried that well, not crispy, unseasoned. Notice how we mentioned Hot earlier on .... it had no sauce at all not a lick, none of the savory hot sauce that she wanted. The mashed potatoes that she got with her meal was again dry, and unseasoned almost the consistency of powdered potatoes... at a higher end and well respected establishment?
Now I understand the COVID has been really really hurting people and businesses but, that doesn't mean we should use that as an excuse for food thats just alright at a well respected establishment. We expected so much better especially for how much we paid. Food are some peoples way of forgetting problems, its like a roller coaster meant to be enjoyed and thrilled upon. Not saddened by it. I hope this is sene as I genuinly wanted to enjoy...
Read moreI like burgers. Usually, I just like them. But this place, I loved their burger. Truly one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. Cant remember the certain burger I had but watching the other dishes come out for other customers, it looks like you simply can’t go wrong with any choice on their menu.
My wife got a steak and here is her review:
I try not to be the person who takes pictures of my food but this was truly the most delicious steak I ever had in my life. I thought about using the second photo as the cover image but no, you have to see the genuine delight on my face after sampling this steak. It's more important than the beautiful vista. It opened my taste buds to the breathtaking vista of flavor as if I was blind before. I could write songs about it. It was amazing. I'm shocked. Blown away. Still recovering. Let me describe it to you: Medium rare, a perfect, buttery-fat slice of heaven. They cut it for me into wedges of absolute wonder. Every bite was a journey through each individual sinew this beautiful cow had built. I write to honor their sacrifice. This steak, a masterpiece of warm, vibrantly flavored, peppered taste with every bite. I couldn't eat it fast enough and yet I couldn't eat it slow enough. Juicy yet firm. For the vegans out there...I'm sorry. Even you would have become apostate for this. The sauce? A perfect compliment of creamy spice. I don't know what it was called and will never pronounce it correctly even if I did. Danache something. Whispers of garlic and onion, butter with a punch of red pepper. The world is worth...
Read moreLet me just start off by saying when ever I'm going to be dropping more then a Benjamin on dinner I would like it to be a great experience. The chairs are very hard/uncomfortable steel chairs, the decor feels dated. They only had one IPA on tap even though there's a giant blue moon sign above the bar. The staff seems very friendly although under staffed, the poor bartender was the host the bartender waiter and bus boy. The blue crab macaroni had a crab flavor but was kind of dry, and I couldn't honestly even find any lumps of crab meat in it. The bruschetta was decent but come on how hard is it to mess up bread with tomatoes. We ordered a ny strip and a ribeye. The steaks came out cooked to temp (med rare) but the overall quality of the meat felt low. Very fatty/grizzly. The mashed potatoes that came with the steaks were horrible, not an ounce of seasoning and mine were still cold in the middle, very hard too. Like they were old and microwaved plain as day. In closing, I have no clue how this place has such high ratings. It's mediocre at best and deff not worth the money I spent...
