Looked like an authentic japanese restaurant from outside. But the food quality was terrible.

Takoyaki: the menu was advertising that their takoyaki is the BIGGEST. I am not sure what they meant by the “biggest.” The takoyaki itself was just a regular size like any other restaurants, and the octopus inside the takoyaki was also a regular size. But the taste was okay, nothing special.

Tonkatsu: as you see the photo, the outer fried part was very “hard” and already falling apart upon serving. It fell apart so easily as you see the second photo of tonkatsu.

Curry? Just look at the photo..

Very far from authentic japanese tonkatsu. The meat was very very hard like super lean that I had to chew so much. You better have strong teeth and a good digestive system.

Problem starts here. I politely requested for a refund on the Tonkatsu because of its very low quality food. The owner came by and said their “super hard-crunchy fried tonkatsu” had no problems, and its actually the owner’s regional japanese style Tonkatsu 🤦🏻‍♂️. (I am a Tonkatsu lover)

For refund, he said I would still have to pay in full because he said “he purchased the ingredient to make the food.” After debating for about 20-30 minutes, we finally made a deal to pay $5 for the Tonkatsu. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Would not recommend this place to anyone.

I heard their sashimi is good. Maybe I should have...

Eaten here many times before. Service seems to have really declined. After being shut down by Public Health for health and safety violations (dead rodents, roaches, etc.), you would think they’d be trying to regain customers by at least being friendly however this is not the case.

Arrived at the restaurant at 10:55 am as their advertised opening time is 11:00 am. At 11:05 am their “CLOSED” sign was still displayed and the workers could clearly see us sitting outside with our 10 month old baby and elderly grandparents in the hot sun. No employees came to the door to explain that their staff were late and would have to be opening later. I called the restaurant and explained we were sitting outside in the heat and asked if we could at least come in and sit in the restaurant until the rest of their staff showed up. Initially, the waiter that answered agreed to let us in, however, when he came to the door, he stated that the owner said we will have to continue sitting outside in the hot sun until their staff arrived. Really poor service considering there were no other customers lined up to eat there.

One star since the food is decent.

Never going...

The staff at this place can learn a thing or two from their Japanese counterparts. If you came to experience the outstanding Japanese customer service, then this is not the place.

We were sat down immediately after arriving. 15 mins waiting in the table, we asked one of the staff who was servicing the table next to us to let her know we are ready. I commented in our group that the service at the restaurant is slow.

She then came to our table mouthing that she heard what I said. And I asked her, what was wrong with my remarks? The service is slow. There are customers sitting down waiting for their orders to be taken, yet she was so busy cleaning an empty table? She then proceeded that "my manager already told us earlier that customers can leave if they cant wait.." ilI told her, I dont understand your problem. All I said was that the service is slow.

Completely a dissppointing experience coming from a Japanese restaurant. Not only will she not shut up but she kept an aggressive attitude. Absolutely not worth the money.

Definitely DO NOT recommend, and will...

Hands down best authentic Japanese restaurant in Guam There were so many variety of Japanese food to choose from some I’ve never had before and some I’ve hadn’t had in years. The shoyu ramen had seafood pieces in it and the base of the soup was delicious There are kids menu items too that you can ask the servers there The seating was quite crammed indoors but there are a few outdoor seating as well We were there around 6pm on a Tuesday and it was busy at that time. The prices were very fair for what you’d get at a Japanese restaurant and the quantity was good portions. The ramen was big enough to feed two kids I’d say. That was a server and very helpful in helping us choose what’s the best at Uomaru. I’ll come again next time but during lunch!

We were a bit sceptical reading the reviews. It looks like it's been hit or miss for people, and thankfully, it was a hit for us. Sashimi tasted fresh, with no smells. The eel from eel bowl was amazing, it just dissolved on your tongue. I tried tuna tororo bowl because I know Japanese love tororo, but japanese restaurants in Korea never have it. I can say I can see the appeal, as it can be seasoned however you want, and it makes the rice stick even after you mix it in. The portions of fish and rice were also generous. I enjoyed the izakaya design, I like it when places go for unusual design choices. The menu is on the pricier side, but that's also because of the decline of fish and other seafood numbers over the years.
