We've visited H'ours 3 times, 2 of 3 visits had issues. I wrote an email to them but never heard back. I'll come back to this point in a minute. The food has always been very good, the drinks are good and the music is usually good. I feel there is a managent issue at the restaurant: -Visit one- was a "drop in" and we grabbed seats at bar, it was oyster night which made for a great time. -Visit two- Made a res at bar and told "all set". When we showed up we were taken to a table right in front of band. We love music but not dinner in front of band. I pointed out that I made res at bar and manager responds "you can't do that". I pointed out that res taker never mentioned that. Manager went on to say any res at bar have to made with bartender. My obvious response was how would I know that? Once I said "we're out of here" manager found a table near bar and away from music (enough to be able to have a conversation). Dinner was very good. -Visit three- Arrived everything went well until we got our Jambalaya with a quarter chicken (bone in) was laying on top the rice. I complained that the meal was misrepresented and the waiters response "she won't take that off the bill"??? What an odd first response to a meal complaint. They did charge us but provided a free dessert. I write many reviews but hesitate to write negative reviews, so I emailed them directly with my concerns - no response! Hence I feel my concern with H'ours is a management issue: Staff taking res that they shouldnt. The waiters response about "she won't take it off the bill" was presented so quick, he seemed afraid of management, or this happens often. Lack of response to my email reflects just bad customer service. These are all management issues. I gave 3 stars because the food is good! The rest....well there's plenty of local places that make me feel like they want me to enjoy my visit, I'll spend my...
Read moreThe food was very good. Of all the entrees, everyone liked the Chicken JUMBALAYA the best. But when it comes to fish, the TILE FISH with Mango Chutney was best. The Butterfish dish (Grouper) was a distant 3rd. I look forward to trying the Etoufee next time. Food quality and taste were very good. Creativity and presentation were outstanding. They had a live instrumental band playing music you would hear in the French Quarter. Very nice touch. The place is upscale for the area, no doubt. The service was very good and location is excellent. There are quite a few places you can walk to from there and the area is nice and safe. I do very much recommend it, but can't give it 5 stars. Here are the reasons: The food was very good but not consistently excellent across all entrees. Service was also very good but not outstanding. The biggest knock though and it's a shame, was the drinks. My daughter ordered a lemonade. We get lemonade everywhere. This lemonade was BAD. I don't mean just not up to Chick Fil A, I"m talking smelled rotten, tasted horrible, etc. All of us at the table checked it out and had never experienced anything like that before. I explained it very nicely to the server, he took it back, and he never brought a fresh one or asked if she wanted something different to drink. It was odd. As I was drinking my water, I smelled it in my water too. So it might either have been OLD BAD ICE or just BAD WATER. Either way, its something that shouldn't happen in a nice restaurant and it wasn't handled properly. will it keep me from going back? NOT AT ALL. And I hope to be able to give them 5 stars...
Read moreI do not like giving these ratings as I do not like saying negative things about small businesses but going to this restaurant negatively effected my family so that I feel obligated to do so. My family went here for my brother’s 40th Birthday and we had a reservation at 7:30 but was not seated until 8:30. When we were seated, we were told that they might not have enough water cups. Then we did not have a server come to our table for about 20 minutes until one briefly came to state she was trying to find water for us. I do not wish to bash her as she seemed nice yet was overwhelmed and stressed. I am usually more accommodating to restaurants that are not efficient but we were seated outside with a loud band playing outside. That would have been fine if they were any good but the music prevented any conversation from occurring and personally have me a headache.. When my elderly mother asked some employee how long they would be playing or if there was any way it could be turned down or if we could be moved, we were told they could not control what the band did and that they had no more seating. While I never was able to order, I can say the menu was limited to tourist Cajun food and nothing authentic you would expect for the prices. For those prices, Paul Prudhomme better Be cooking it. We walked out and my family members birthday was ruined causing some unneeded drama. There are not a lot of New Orleans inspired cuisine in Tarpon since it has some of the best Greek restaurants in the world, so if you really want that type Of food then maybe your Experience will...
