A Tale of Two Shopkeepers
We wandered into this charming little boutique, drawn in by the delightful window display and promise of whimsical fashion for our little adventurers. The clothes? Absolutely adorable. Unique finds. Hard-to-find brands that make your heart do a little happy dance. It felt like we’d stumbled into a hidden corner of Main Street, just off the path of the usual.
But alas, every fairytale has a villain.
As we tried a pair of tiny shoes on our 17-month-old—something we thought was perfectly normal in the land of retail—we were met not with magic, but with passive-aggressive questions delivered in a baby voice by a much older employee. It was awkward, off-putting, and frankly, confusing. We weren’t sure if she was scolding our child or mocking us. Either way, it didn’t feel like the warm, welcoming atmosphere you’d hope for when shopping for your little one’s next adventure-ready outfit.
To be fair, we had a lovely, friendly chat with a younger team member, and we wish she had been the face of the store. But after being essentially scolded for... checking fit before purchase (what a concept!), we decided to leave empty-handed.
The lesson? Rude energy turns fairy dust into sawdust. Even the cutest clothes can’t outshine bad service. And while supporting small businesses should feel like stepping into a storybook, this one left us feeling like we were cast as the villains for daring to try on shoes.
In the end, we’ll likely buy direct from the designers or pay a bit more on Amazon—because at least the checkout page doesn’t give you attitude in...
Read moreLast night my 16 year old granddaughter and I went to First Friday. She is visiting me from NY and this is her first time not only in Tarpon Springs but in Florida. When the rain started, accompanied by thunder and lightning, we took cover under the nearest store front awning. The wind picked up and we were just starting to get wet when the door opened to the shop we were in front of and two women told us to get inside. The two women were Judy and Haley and the shop was LITTLE BEACH BABIES BOUTIQUE! The ladies were enjoying a glass of wine and some popcorn in the back of the store and immediately included us. We chatted like old friends as we waited out the storm. The rain suddenly stopped as quickly as it had started and customers started coming in. It was our time to leave but not without giving Judy and Haley a big hug filled with gratitude for their kindness. LITTLE BEACH BABIES BOUTIQUE is a sweet little gem in downtown Tarpon and so are its proprietors! It makes me so proud to live in this wonderful community and of the first impression of it that these two sweet women gave to my...
Read moreThe establishment is top notch. I ordered 2 items but they only had 1 available. They searched to find the product I wanted even though it wasn't from their shop. They substituted another item that was more than satisfactory for the same price. It was 2 items for my granddaughter's which they loved. They even texted me and sent me pics of additional items to choose from. They followed up by personally texting me to make sure that I received my items. I highly recommend this company to family, friends and anyone who wants a great personal customer service experience. I will definitely order from them again. If you live near Tarpon Springs Florida you need to visit this boutique, if you don't you can still go to their website! I absolutely love love love this...
