Its more like 2.5 stars based on my experience
I have driven past this place a zillion times and some people told me how good the food was and it was on Groupon so I figured why not. I treated a friend out to dinner returning the love for something she for me and my daughter and to chit chat for a grown up dinner lol. I got the deal from Groupon for $40.00 for food up to $80.00 to spend for our entire meal. Rsvp for 7:00pm, which is great timing on weekdays to assure a Rsvp last minute. The atmosphere is quiet and calm pretty clean overall. Decent place to bring a date for happy hour after work at the bar (On the other side of the restaurant) area from what I could see. Our waiter, was nice and attentive but he would disappear for long periods at a time. Don't remember the hostesses name but she's nice with a smile on her face every time I saw her.
We started with the "East Coast Crab Cake" appetizer which had baby greens, pineapple salsa and chipotle romulad. This was pretty good and enjoyed it. My friend had a Pina/Coco Martini which had Patron Silver, Tequila, Grand Marnier, Triple Sec, and Papaya Liquor. The drink was on point !!! The complimentary bread was hard and served with this big block of butter on a dish that was not good but hey you don't go to a restaurant for complimentary bread so no biggie.
As far as the entrees. I ordered the "Blackened Sword Fish" which came two potato hash, sautéed spinach, and sweet BBQ sauce. The Fish was okay and over seasoned you really could not appreciate the fish itself the potatoes were very good and spinach was okay. I didn't taste any BBQ sauce at all which was one of the main reasons i ordered the dish. My friend had the "Penne" which had grilled chicken breast, cherry tomatoes, broccoli rabe, white wine garlic sauce. The sauce literally tasted like soup from the Cambell's chicken noodle soup can. The chicken had no flavor or taste whatsoever. Just bad all around I tried to like but i had to be honest.
I had a taste for something sweet. I was going to try the "Apple Crumble Pie" which came with vanilla ice cream but the server who was like the waiters assistant asked us if we like Chocolate cake. We said Ahhhhhhhh Yeahhhhhhhhh LOL who doesn't and the way she described it had me sold saying it was warm and filled with chocolate lava in the middle with vanilla ice cream blah blah. She specified it was not on the dessert menu and was a special. It comes out and looks pretty damm sexy on the plate and I take a bite and was totally disappointed. At this time I am not a happy guy overall based on the food. She was nice and trying to help which I appreciate but for me it didn't taste great at all. The ice cream was the only thing that tasted okay.
This is mainly why it went from a generous 3 stars to 2.5 stars. Our total bill came out to be $87.00 before the Groupon. Not a bad deal right since $80.00 was going to come off after the Groupon. Well jokes on me because they add a 20% to the bill Wait What ?? LOL Now I always tip minimum 20% on the total bill so that is not a problem but with me it is the principle. A lot of people would not purchase that Groupon if it is in the fine print (It is not nowhere listed on the fine print on Groupon) I would like to have the right see if you earned your tip based on food, service and overall satisfaction as a customer. Now did I tell the waiter that Groupon does not specify 20% gratuity added to the bill no I didn't want to cause a fuss. I understand and know this is a Steakhouse and most of the good reviews are based on the steaks but I dont eat red meat but I recommend anyone coming to purchase Steaks only as far as entrees go. I am glad I went for the experience and they have some positives but overall I dont think I will be...
Read moreBuyer beware!!! Spending your money at this restaurant may lead to a robbery!!! Please know that this establishment does not do well with food they serve, they try to make up for cost at the bar. With that, I discourage you from letting this facility run a bar tab. The bartender's intentionally pour alcohol irresponsibly so that they can charge patrons for things not purchased. When they tried to rob my significant other, I complained and was asked not to return to the restaurant again. It is not humanly possible for one man to drink 12 drinks of rum in less than one hour! However, that’s what they charged him for, in addition to the five glasses of vodka he supposedly purchased for people at the bar.
Please know, that I am have been the designated driver for countless people because I am not a heavy drinker. Typically, I go out because I have a love for music and dancing. That particular night, I witnessed my man buy three drinks for himself, one for me, and two cocktails two friends of ours. All of the additional charges were erroneous.
Keep in mind that as the appointed designated driver I've watched this restaurant set up tabs with people that the bartenders knew could afford to pay large bills. So, they intentionally get the patrons wasted, then charge whatever they feel they can get away with, so be careful. These type of practices are wrong, and the owner needs to be held responsible for the injustices committed at his establishment. Personally, I’m reporting these improper business practices to consumer affairs and the better...
Read moreJust left and first time there. Had surf and turf. Overall the meal was 7 out of 10. Steak was tough and chewy, but lobster was very good and sides. Nice sized portions. Wait staff was slow. A "forced" 18% tip was applied without my prior knowledge which was not earned on the check.Spoke with Mgr called Arty who eventually changed the tip to allow me pay what I, as the customer, felt I wanted based on service provided. BUT he became argumentative, loud, and made the situation worse and I left pissed off and upset. He ruined my meal. He was like dealing with a low class street vendor who only knew how to sell hot dogs and would haggle over giving you mustard or onions on top. Due to him, I stated that it was my first and last time here. His response was not one of a professional and experienced resturant owner/Mgr who values their patrons so that they come back. He simply didn't care one way or another and came across petty, unsophisticated without any level of interpersonal or customer service skills. My bill was around $100.00 for a single person with a 15% tip which in hindsight should have been reduced to 10%, especially, when the waiter brought me water in a plastic cup. That alone should tell you something about the place keeping in mind that Arty boasted that he trained them...
