This is my go-to pizza shop. Baked right, it is a very close approximation to the old Lamp Post Pizza that was in Lancaster back in the ‘80s. In a nutshell, they did not burn the cheese like it seems every take out pizza joint does now. I don’t know who it was that decided pizza tastes better with burned cheese, but I would like to wring his neck. Okay?
But I digress. Yes, Johnnies is pricey, but, you get what you pay for. And, really, for about $20 for a large my wife and I can get two meals out of it at $5 for each of us, a lot better than any fast food joint. Not only that, $2 more for an extra large we get three meals. And because you bake it yourself you can decide to cook it right, or burn the cheese. Your choice.
Now, do yourself a favor. Ask for parchment along with the paper pan. Also, get yourself a 16 inch pizza pan at Walmart to pick it up, but bake them in the paper pan as suggested. You do not want to pick up an extra large with no pan, trust me. Follow the directions they offer you for baking, but watch the baking progress the first few times. Each oven bakes in a little different length of time.
Well, that’s all I have for now, and now you can bake your...
Read moreI came here after seeing that it’s the same owner of Kamenz Kafe. I love that place and wanted to try out the pizzeria. The monitors weren’t working but I went ahead and ordered a medium size veggie pizza - $25. A tad expensive for a medium take out pizza, but hey maybe it’s just THAT good. No less than 10 minutes after I ordered I was handed a RAW pizza. When I inquired as to why it was raw, the employee politely stated, “you bake it at home. This is a Take n Bake.” Well that makes sense, I just thought it was a catchy name. I have never heard of a Take n Bake pizzeria before. It’s a smart business move and a fun concept I suppose. Instead of focussing the businesses finances on the ridiculously high cost I’m sure a pizza oven has, you can instead focus on providing your customers with high quality ingredients and all they have to do it pop it in the oven at home. The quality of the pizza and ingredients were certainly top shelf! This pizza was delicious! On the way home I couldn’t believe I just spent that much money for a raw pizza but after it came out of the over, I could tell why! Very good Pizza and eager to share with my friends...
Read moreGot to got a couple of Johnny's pizzas to put on to the traeger and there were way too many toppings and they charge an arm and a leg for a pizza it was good it could have been better with less toppings honestly. He was $48 for two medium pizzas. They're claim to fame was well we put a lot of very premium toppings on there and they did they put a lot of toppings on there but the pizza wasn't allowed to really get cooked all the way with so much stuff on top of the dough. Personally Papa Murphy's Pizza on the traeger is definitely the way to go nice thin...
