kind of a hidden gem. gets quite crowded at lunch and you WILL be waiting for your food well after you've ordered. the host/owner is a pleasant lady who will personally greet you and walk you around to introduce you to the myriad of food options. they pretty much serve everything here, from a full breakfast all day to salads to pizza to deli sandwiches to cheesesteaks to sushi. yeah, it's diverse. i consider myself to be a cheesesteak expert, and the one here is OUTSTANDING. it alone would get 5 stars. i'm knocking the rating down for several reasons, however. first, the wait. it really is quite bad. they have 3-4 ppl making the food and one poor woman at the register handling it all. doesn't take much to become overwhelming. add to this their robust call ahead take out business and you're looking for trouble. they have a pager system which helps a bit. seating is quite limited, and the restaurant is configured like a mobile home, long and thin. they do have an overflow upstairs dining area, but it doesn't help much and is out of the way. restaurant reminds me of the deli counter at a truck stop. it's effective and gets the job done, but it isn't going to win any style awards

the cheesesteak is the star for me here, and it is quite large. having said that, it doesn't come with any accessories (french fries, chips, etc) other than a few pickle slices. once you begin adding they typical accessories (incidentally, despite the vast menu, they don't offer french fries) it begins to become a little pricey.

so...5 stars for the food, minus 1 for the decor and seating, minus 1 for the long lines and slightly higher prices. still, definitely worth...

Nice little dinner near Costco. They have a good but somewhat limited menu. I am sure there are enough options to make anyone happy. Only thing missing for me was french fries 🍟, but the burger was large and tasty so that made up for the lack of fries.

Bun on the burger was delicious and definitely better than the 2023 Red Robin buns. The meat was tasty and cooked perfectly.

Service was fast and friendly.

Prices are awesome!! $8.5 for a burger makes it one of the best deals in NJ!

Not sure about the drink prices, but I am used to most restaurants price gauging on drinks during Bidenflation, so I always bring my own drink and take food to-go.

The drink selection here is actually really great with a whole assortment of Joes tea and diet coke too.

The roast beef sandwich looks tempting for my next visit.

Cellphone data speed here on 5g is good enough for browsing or gaming. Download speed is a bit slow but not bad.

Parking is free and plenty of spots.

Appears to be a cozy roof deck with seating for 2 tables, but might only be for summer?

I like the giant spinning sign on top and the classic neon sign on the front. Both are nice touches and separates this place from all the cookie cutter modern ugly restaurant style that looks like a box made from Legos but only using the rectangle blocks to build from (see any new Wendy's, burger king, Dunkin, taco bell, mc Donald's, or the entire new downtown of Hackensack filled with these ugly modern block...

Save your money. Please please dont order the Lobster Bisque. It is disgusting and watery and there are shells in it. I spoke with the woman who answers the phone and she says they are supposed to be there!!! Umm, somehow i doubt anyone would want to chew on shells while eating soup! The food has gone downhill over the last year, as has their customer service. They nickel and dime you for every "extra" including mayo packets, check your receipts! They forget alot of things they charged you extra for. My office used to order from there multiple times a week.... and we have given them multiple "one more trys" and i think after today were are done with them completely. Update: they sent their delivery driver here who complained he always has to come here twice and that hes a busy guy. I mean how unprofessional is that? the only reason he ever has to come back is to fix the mistakes of the business he is employed with. GO...

This review is not only about Sal’s excellent service and food but also about New Jersey’s highly underrated value as a area that excels in customer service and such patience with the population I’m always shocked by the level of service relative to other places I travel to. The NY/NJ area is the best in the US hands down. At Sal’s, the owner, Josey, immediately approached me with the most kind spirit and asked if I’d been there before, like she knew I hadn’t because she’d have remembered me! She attentively roved the small restaurant asking if everyone was ok and engaging them. Some may not like that kind of attention and if not, maybe this place isn’t for you.

We were intrigued by this place from the outside appearance. Looked like one of those local places that is a best kept secret. We stopped in for lunch today and Sal’s did not disappoint. The food was fresh, the service friendly and the prices extremely good for the quality. Highly recommend this place, it’s worth the trip!
