Today I went to Captain Tom, but I always go. I’ve been going since 2012 however here we are 2025 I went today and I left my AirPod Pro the new ones I left one of them because I was distracted so I could blame myself however when I woke up, that was the first thing that popped in my head so I immediately put on my clothes and I called the location where I ate my food I called when someone picked up. They hung up in my face and I called at least three more times and they hung up in my face again so when I made it to the location, I automatically have my phone pulled out and find me pulled up. I walked in the location and asked for the Supervisor and he immediately said I don’t have anything for you before I can even get two words out so I just turned my phone around and showed him. My AirPod is at this location because it would not allow me to physically trace it or pinging it by making a sound if it’s not in a certain range and the closer you get the more and let you know it’s getting closer he refuse to help got attitude did not wanna talk to any workers. I asked him. Could they please check the trash the guy told me they clean the trash so it’s not in the trash because they clean the trash which was alarming to me However he was the only young man was a younger guy probably about 24. Who helped me but they started talking to him in Spanish, so I’m not sure what they was telling him so what I did I stood, stood in a boat and I stood in one spot and I put on the find my and people were passing me up. I walked the boat three full times, so I know what the signal was given. I stood in this one particular. Area which was close to all the workers and as they passed me by one particular person who was given attitude, it would get a signal it will flash and then it will go all the way back down mind you the guy walked past me three times and it happened every time back-and-forth three times that six times The guy had a weird look on his face, but it was like OK. I just want my AirPod so I stood there and then I called the guy who was willing to help me and I told him one of the workers have my AirPods because it keep pinging every time I get close to them at the signal get stronger he told me he was the smallest person. He couldn’t do anything about it even if it’s there Vibrato that’s what he say so I couldn’t get the supervisor and the supervisor when they talking in Spanish telling him to search all the customers or ask any customer do they see my AirPod they have my AirPod, but I’m telling them. I don’t want to make nobody experience bad. It’s been here since five hours ago. Nobody been here as a customer for five hours. It’s here. Maybe it’s in the trash. Maybe it’s behind the counter because that’s what the signal get strong. Could y’all please help me the guy told me go talk to the people his work was myself. I told him y’all stand up with a tab in a pen communicating when it’s time to pay but when you have somebody who’s been coming here for well over a decade, y’all can’t communicate to see if y’all can help this customer resolve our issue and y’all see as the issue and you can see that it’s here. He say he’s gonna call the police and started talking crazy to me so I called the police. tell the police everything happened. The police saw that my device was here but because they have rights and I’m guessing we don’t or I don’t nothing was forced or nothing was resolved so I just walked away with a piece of paper And a sorry and a bill for $100.00 they also told the guy to search the customers to question the customers, which, if somebody was there read this they’ll tell you I said that I didn’t want anyone to feel uncomfortable at all. However, they refuse to question or search their own workers. Who was there since I was there earlier that day mine you it was five hours later and I’m post a picture to show you. I’m not too long ago left and it’s pinging from the address because I went back and when I called the police it automatically connected to my AirPod, I had to put it on speaker These people...
Read moreMy wife and I decided to try Captain Tom's seafood , a place for dinner that we haven't been to in years, but had always had a good experience there. We arrived at about 9:00 PM had no trouble parking when we went in not much had changed it was crowded but a number of seats remained at the bar. As soon as we sit down the server took our drink order and in a few minutes more we ordered. How old are the seafood platter and she ordered a bowl of gumbo and a mini. After a short wait our food arrived. My wife wanted me to sample her gumbo as she said it is nothing like what you make. She was right! First of all for those that may not know the definition of gumbo is "okra thickened soup". What she received is what appeared to be a very light roux with a few specs of bell pepper, onion and some tiny tiny cocktail shrimp. It wasn't a bad soup, but in no way was it actually gumbo. I started in on my seafood platter as usual with the fries. The first thing I noticed is they were a good quality potato fried well But served with no seasoning and no salt or pepper immediately available they did have ketchup. As I moved on to the shrimp The cornmeal coating was okay, but the freshwater shrimp were dry and tough. Next the fried oysters were mushy and fishy tasting. I don't eat raw oysters this time of the year because typically anything local the quality is poor. Frying a poor oyster or old oyster doesn't make it better. The next item was the catfish fillets. I had no problems with the way they were prepared, but one bite and it was old fish with a very fishy taste. One bite was enough for me I didn't even bother to try the second filet. The last item on my plate was the stuffed crab a pale comparison of what this restaurant used to serve, but it was at least edible. When I looked over at my wife and the food left on her plate, she said, "are you ready to go? I said, "I take it you're not happy with the food?" Her comment was, "it's terrible." we paid and left . I can't complain about the pricing, but for a meal this bad it was total...
Read moreMan I love the food here but I'll never return to this location. If you're familiar with this restaurant, then you know that you have to wait for seating. The best seats are on the inside so you don't have yell to the server or reach over anyone to get your food. An employee cleaned 3 seats off and called my family over to be seated. The customer next to the 3 available inside seats said that he was reserving one of the seats for his wife. That's not how this restaurant operates. You wait in line until the number of seats are available for your party.
I politely told him that these are the only available 3 inside seats and that the employee called us over to sit here. The customer understood and said he would move to the outside seats to wait on his wife (he was already done eating). I guess he explained the situation in Spanish to who would've been our server and the server in said "No No No!!" As he instructed the customer to stay seated. The server then placed a napkin in one of the available 3 seats and then walked away without acknowledging me and my family. So now we're standing in front of 3 empty seats, that we were waved to come sit at, without any indication of what to do. I ask the server when he returned "Are you not allowing us to sit here?" He said "No". By this time I was frustrated and told my family that we were leaving. The server shrugged.
Many of the surrounding customers offered their seats to us as we were walking out. All kind gestures by them but I no longer wanted to spend money where I was not welcomed. I don't use the "discrimination card" often but with my family being the only 3 African American people there, it did cross my mind. The cashier actually apologized to us as we were leaving but that doesn't negate that the server was willing to break their policy on reserving seats to ensure my family would not have a decent...
