Few things are as satisfying as a visit to a good sports bar. The atmosphere, the sports viewing, the food, and other extras make the casual vibe of a sports bar something I seek out. One military themed sports bar in the Katy area that I have visited a few times is Bombshells, a chain establishment.
Walking inside Bombshells, you are greeted by the hostess who will quickly find you a table or booth in which to sit and soak up the atmosphere. The inside of Bombshells is quite large and I like the many seating options. The outdoor patio is nice also and it comes complete with multiple televisions of its own, to keep guests’ eyes on their favorite sporting event. It can get loud inside, so the patio is a good place to go if you prefer a little less crowd noise and, of course, fresh air.
I like the food options at Bombshells. The menu has lots of choices and my family really like the shrimp and the cheese sticks, which are less gooey than others and much easier to eat. I have had good experiences with the burgers, cheesesteak, and other foods, too. So, when all things culinary are examined, Bombshells earns a thumbs up in this area.
Where Bombshells falls short is with its beer selection, liquor, and overall service. There are only two or three good beer choices at Bombshells and this really took me by surprise when I visited for the first time. I expected at least a handful of locally brewed craft beers, but no. Subsequent visits turned up the same problem. Why they don’t offer better beer, I do not know. It isn’t like the options don’t exist. The Houston area has a large selection of flavorful, homegrown brew, but Bombshells has decided to ignore this. I had a similar issue with the liquor selection. There are several specialty liquors I expected to find available, but they had none of them.
Service is another issue at Bombshells. Yeah, the waitresses are cute and I like the military outfits they wear, but they are completely lacking in basic knowledge of the beer and drinks. They need to be better trained in this area. They also need to be more attentive to the tables they serve. Too often, they will start a casual conversation with guests at one table, completely forgetting there are customers waiting for another drink at their other tables.
I love sports bars but Bombshells is a mixed bag. Again, the abundant seating, dozens of televisions, patio, and food are above average, but a good sports bar needs good beer, premium liquors, and knowledgeable staff. Until Bombshells makes these improvements, I can only rate it...
Read moreToday was my first time at Bombshells Katy. Our waitress was great and the atmosphere was great too. The food was ok. Well little did I know that there was a boxing fight tonight. I noticed that they had a sign on the door about a $10 cover charge after 8 pm, mind you I arrived way before that time. After 8 pm there was gentleman walking around inside asking everyone to pay the $10 cover. He came to our table once and we still hadn’t decided if we were staying. Just a few minutes later he came again to ask if we’re staying because they had a long line outside. When I saw the sign at the door I assumed it was for the people coming in after 8pm. Their sign didn’t specify whether they were going to charge cover while already being inside before 8pm. I’ve never been to a place that has a boxing fight and walks around the bar/restaurant asking for a cover charge while already being inside. I feel like that was wrong to do or maybe that’s just how it is nowadays. Meanwhile we still had to finish our drinks so we run to the ladies room. They had no running water in the toilets and they weren’t flushing. Also, low water pressure in the sink. All the toilets were almost half way full with no way to flush. There were other ladies in there complaining about how they were charging cover even though some had been there since 3-4pm. I went back to my table and asked for a manager. I mentioned that their toilets were out of order and water pressure was low in sink. He kind of blew me off and just said it’s the city’s fault that they have low water pressure. I also mentioned that he shouldn’t be charging the people in there, especially when they don’t even have good running restrooms. All he said was that he couldn’t do anything. It bothered me that he didn’t even apologize or try to understand. I can only imagine that if what he said is true most ladies were unable to use the ladies room the entire night. How are they able to cook in the kitchen if they have low water pressure. As excited as I was to check out this place I was disappointed. The waitress again was great and...
Read moreI recently had an incredibly disappointing experience on Friday July 18th. My wife and I arrived at 1:45 AM, and when we asked the hostess if the bar and kitchen were still open, she confirmed they were. After a long day, we were relieved to hear this and promptly ordered drinks. My wife and I always go to bombshells we really enjoy the vibe. However, our waitress informed us that we had only three minutes to order food, but Didn’t think that we would be getting kicked out. I wish they would’ve told me that at the front desk.
To our surprise, our food arrived within 10 minutes, and we were pleased with the quality. But just a minute later, the waitress dropped our bill, leaving us feeling quite rudely dismissed. We were shocked to realize that we were being kicked out at exactly 2 AM, with the lights flickering on and off to signal that the restaurant was closing. This lack of a structured closing procedure was evident; in many places, there’s a last call announced well before closing time, and the kitchen typically shuts down earlier.
When I asked the waitress to remove one drink from our bill since my wife hardly had the chance to enjoy it, the waitress came back and said the that manger refused. I requested to speak with him directly, hoping to explain our situation. Unfortunately, Mitch was dismissive and rude, insisting that we had enough time to finish our drinks. he also mentioned that The drink order was placed at 1:47 AM, which doesn’t even mean that that’s the time the drinks were served to us at that time. His attitude made it clear he was more focused on closing up than providing any customer service.
If we had been informed about the closing time from the start, we would have chosen not to stay. This was truly the worst dining experience we’ve had, and it’s hard to believe that a restaurant would operate without a proper closing protocol. VERY...
