Do not stay at the Hyatt in Katy. Beautiful place, dont get me wrong. The management are crooks, and if he's able to get away with it, then it most likely goes higher up. My story: As you know we have all suffered from the passed freeze Feb 15th. I myself am still dealing with the aftermath of it all. Having no electricity for 53hrs straight and pipes busting in my kitchen, it have been a continuous nightmare. Once freez was over we then were out of water until about March 9th, due to not being able to find a licensed plumber available after inspections were done. During that time we decided to get a hotel room every three days or so for showers. And get insurance to reimburse, no big deal right. Then once we realized this was going to be a very very long process we got our insurance to book a hotel for us, so we no longer have to take out of pocket. They did and found Hyatt. We agreed on a "pet deposit " of 300 because yes, we have a dog and were not sure at the time if we were going to stay at our home without water like we have been and use for showers only, or just stay at hotel. Insurance had us booked as long as we needed. We decided to just use for showers, and we did so. By the 5th day my husband took our son to use the room and his rood key did not work. He left and called me to tell me. I called the hotel and asked why our key didn't work, and they said we checkout of the room. Policy there is you don't have to return your room key to check out, so if they don't see anyone going into it and they go to clean your room and you don't have personal belongings setting in the room, you must have checked out. Even though it was booked for up to 30 days through insurance. So we have no room to take a shower, I was very upset and was told they have a room available if I wanted it, but would have to pay 300 for pet deposit, which is basically money in my account that is frozen until checkout, then they have up to 7 days to release it. ANOTHER 300 frozen! Then says he sees that our insurance contacted them and that we were booked to come back the next day to stay again. I was mad and told him to keep reservations for now and hung up. Then I thought about it..... they assumed I "checked out" because I had no personal belongings there, but however we did!! We had our person soaps, loofah, and toothpaste in the bathrooms still then they went in to clean! The whole reason we got the room is for the shower!!! About 5 days later we had a plumber come and fix our pipes and thank the Lord we have water just about a month after the storm. We are still trying to get things done at home, and we are now dealing with a completely gutted kitchen. I wake up today with $4651.68 taken from my account from Hyatt!!! The real issue is that my account is now negative. No way of contacting anyone from my bank. I call the hotel and tell them the problem and was put on hold right away. I began to get dressed, because this is a face to face issue. I drive the whole way there and was still on hold as I walked in. I hang up when I walked in and was told manager will be in at 11. It was about 930. Then I asked for corporate information. She said she would as soon as she was done with her customer. After the girl was done she was nice and found my information in the system and said that it looks like the mistake was made, but then they corrected it. And I told her no correction has been made im negative and I'm not leaving until it was corrected. I waited for the manager, he came in late.. and I went to his office. Was given a print out of a "fake " charge to my debit account on Feb 28, then a month later says it was reimbursed. My account was never charged in February, but is now. Charges that are not mine to pay, but my insurance. He hands me 7 rolls of quarters and says is his personal money to help pay for my kids food until he can call his creditors Monday. The charge was never supposed to be that amount it the...
Read moreI normally don’t stay at hotels near my house, but if there is a nearby event involving adult beverages, I will sometimes make an exception, especially if the hotel is within walking distance of the event. This happened to me just recently, and my choice of lodging was Hyatt Place Katy.
I have had good experiences with Hyatt Place hotels in the past. They are not as elaborate as Hyatt Regency, but they are more than acceptable, with just the number of amenities I want in a place of lodging. This location has an outdoor pool, fitness room, food service, bar, and free breakfast so it checks off all my boxes.
With the rooms, they are clean, contemporary, and well- appointed. My room had a single king bed, and a full sofa, which I like. For sleeping, the comfortable bed has you covered and If the outside light bothers you, it’s easy to block it completely, thanks to the special blinds. The modern, fresh look of the rooms is on par with the hotel itself. It’s clean and comfortable, and that includes every space, from the lobby to the pool area, to the restrooms and beyond.
Hotels sometimes do have issues, and what matters to me is how they respond to the issues. I had one such problem in my room, with a coffee maker that didn’t work. I notified the front desk, and they replaced it immediately, no questions asked, which is all one can ask for. That was my only issue- everything else was in good working order. Parking is free, too, and there are many places to eat and drink just a walk away.
Hyatt Place Katy has a bar and restaurant. The front desk person doubles as the bartender, which sounds like an inefficient arrangement, but since it was quiet when I was there, it wasn’t a problem. Food is available around the clock. There is no restaurant in the sense of a space designated as a restaurant. Instead, the food service utilizes the seats and tables next to the front desk. Once again, it sounds like an arrangement that could be a problem, but it works. And I liked the complementary breakfast in the morning. The food was a notch better than the food served at other hotels with free breakfast.
Katy, Texas isn’t a place known for its tourism, and there aren’t many hotels. But if you are in the area and need a comfortable, clean, safe place to spend a night or two, then I recommend Hyatt Place Katy. It’s very close to Interstate 10 and it has all the creature comforts you would expect in a hotel, for...
Read moreI am writing to discuss my traumatic experience at the Hyatt Place Houston/Katy. I was compelled to check out of the Hyatt Place Houston/Katy on November 12th earlier than my November 15th check-out date.
On the evening of November 11th, I woke up due to a constant irritation behind my ears due to bed bug infestation in room 204. Immediately, I turned on the light and noticed several bed bugs crawling on the pillows, and sheets. In addition, my partner had bug bites on her back. We immediately brought this information to the hotel's attention and were transferred to another room, but I no longer felt comfortable sleeping at the hotel.
Waking up to bed bugs was unacceptable and an inconvenience to me because I had to work the next morning. Though the hotel transferred us to a new room, we switched rooms in the middle of the night. Even after moving to a new room I still could not sleep, due to the feeling of things crawling all over.
Please note that the manager was not on site and was told that he would be on site in the morning. The following morning, around 9am, I went down to the main desk to speak with the manager to checkout early, and kept getting the run around. The manager had still not arrived at 1pm; nonetheless, the front desk did their best to help despite the manager stating (via phone) that I would not receive my money back and I would still be charged the full amount.
It's almost incomprehensible as to why both my partner and I must suffer when the hotel was negligent. We are now responsible for washing our clothes, throwing away our luggage, and making sure that we do not carry bed bugs back to our homes which would put our families...
