I am making this statement under my husband's name. I went to starts yesterday afternoon with my two children. I have dined at starts a handful of times. I also work in the restaurant industry. I was ready to pay out and I asked for my check. I then realize my bank card was no longer in my purse and I must have left it in my car. I asked the server if I could go to my car really quick and gran my card so I could pay. She told me to talk to the manager. When I went to the manager, and told her I left my bank card in my car and I needed to get it to pay my bill. I told her she could follow me to my car So I could get my card. ( I was pushing my 1 year in a stroller along with my four year old by my side) She started raising her voice at me and being extremely rude and demanded me to give her my phone. I said, "excuse me ma'am, I will be keeping my phone and I will walk to my car with my kids and walk right back with my card to pay for my bill." She started yelling at me telling me she was going to call the police on me and grabbed me by my left arm to try and keep me from getting my card from my vehicle. Finally this nice server agreed to follow me to my car so I could get my card and pay. I was treated by the Manger so badly I was in tears. My server was also horrible and paid no attention to the dirty plates on our table or my drink refills. Although, she paid attention to the tables around me. Finally when I entered back into the restaurant to pay with my card which was left in my car by accident, I was so humiliated and upset by how I was treated I wrote out "zero" on the tip along with "horrible managment". I get home from work tonight from my serving job and check my account and see that $26.19 was taken from my account. My bill was only $22.19. I am never the kind of person to "stiff" someone or to walk out on my tab without paying. I know how the server life is and restaurant business is and have respect for people in the service industry. But I was absolutely jaw dropped by the way I was treated, by the star buffet, in katy by my server and the lady manager.I had to leave nothing as a tip solely by the way I was treated. I will never return to star. And I don't recommend it either. The restaurant I work at, if a women and her two children came into dine at my restaurant and left her card in the car and told the manager, my managers would completely understand and they would allow them no problem to get their card. The star mamager, who was a lady, really needs to evaluate how she treats people and guest that walk in to the restuarnt. I am absolutely appalled. It was hands down the worst expierence that I have ever had at a resturant. Hospitality brings guest back, not mean heartless non-understanding managers. She turned a small issue into a real big issue and she forever lost a regular customer. Maybe if she reads this review she might think twice on how she treats people who are...
Read moreThere is a lot of parts to this review so please read all of them before visiting this particular E-Star buffet location. It's located off of Katy Freeway and it's near a lot of other convenient food places that you can go to, so you can have more options on where ELSE to go besides this place.
The food looked either very oily, unappetizing, soggy, gross, or looked like it's been sitting out for DAYS. Not hours, DAYS. I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt since I have visited other E-Star locations near me and they have all been excellent. So I thought this would be the same experience at every E-Star. Turns out this one was a total miss
The atmosphere was typical for any chinese buffets. I do find this particular location very dark and they place the food all the way towards the back whereas the other locations they have them on display right when you walk in so you have a general idea on what you're getting into. Maybe they're trying to hide the fact that the food preparations and presentation that they're showing to the customers is of bad quality so they try to put it all the way in the back. But who knows? I'm just a customer
The service left much to be desired. There wasn't a lot of people when I went, and my waiter seemed not busy at all since he was only taking care of two other tables but he was taking 15 minutes to come back with our utensils.
5.Everything tasted bad. The salmon was extremely thinly sliced as if they're watching their own portions on a diet, not to mention it smelled like rotten fish and tasted like it too. I was hesitating to eat a couple of the dishes due to the fear of getting food poisoning by the looks of some dishes.
Our host sat us on a purposely dirty booth and sticky table. When I got up I found crumbs stuck to my pants and the floor was full of food debris. And this was on a NON-BUSY lunch weekday.
To conclude my review, this is one of the worst E-Star establishment I've ever gone to, and I would NEVER EVER come back here. Unless a major change happens,...
Read moreIt was pretty terrible. Most of the food was cold, chewy, & dried out. The only thing fresh on the buffet was pizza, but I didn't come to a $15 Chinese buffet for pizza (I could have gone to Cici's for that). I provided pictures below, the food looks good from far away but zoom in close and notice how dried out it is. The food had to of been sitting there for an hour or 2 to become that awful & all the pans were full to the top when I first arrived (full of old food). This was at 5:30pm on a Friday. (Now the eStar location in Willowbrook I give 5 Stars, they are amazing. Even different/better items on the buffet. Im shocked at how drastically different 1 location can be from the other). You must wear gloves & a mask at the buffet, but there was a lack of social distancing occurring. At the front of the dining room there is every other table "reserved for social distancing" but they sat no one in that area. They sat certain people in the back corner of the restaurant rite ontop of each other, with no space. Im not paranoid about being in close proximity of people in public but it's annoying when businesses want to act "extra" with all these crazy rules but is obviously only doing...
