My family and I live in the area and used to dine and take out pizza from Steel City Pizza, closed down and reopened as RC's NYC Pizza. Our first experience was okay, where we immediately felt the change in seating and appearance. The appearance was good, however the number of seats were drastically reduced and separated by an "over 21" bar area, obviously meant for a different crowd. I wouldn't have minded this had they kept the same level of seating in the general population. However, the reduction in seating left me thinking either they couldn't afford the larger or more tables, or just didn't care. The service was fine, except for the understanding of where do I go... do I immediately go to the counter and order or do I sit down? We chose the previous, since it coincided with what we were accustomed to. The order process was fine and then we waited for a large pepperoni pizza... then we waited some more... and more... finally, we had to ask a couple times about the status of the pizza. at this point, the establishment was crowded, but not what I would consider uncontrollable, very subjective of course. We finally managed to get our pizza, which at first glance looked delicious. I saw spices and just enough shine reminding of me of my old New England pizzas I grew up loving. We dug in... the taste was good and I could tell they added spices, but the thickness and bubble-infested slices with minimum to no sauce left us wondering what we ordered... I will admit the taste was good, however there was very little sauce and cheese, so I felt as though the basil, chives and whatever other spices I could taste was there to mask the lack of what makes a pizza, cheese, bread and sauce. the dough was very thin, no problem, but probably the reason for all the bubbles in the pizza. we left feeling hungry as this was a masquerade for a traditional New York style pizza. I said I would not visit again, however gave the benefit of doubt and returned a second time hoping they had worked out the kinks... no surprise, the kinks got worse with service and no change to the lack of sauce and cheese on a bubble pizza. I recommend visiting Brother's Pizza just down the road, even it's...
Read moreTo preface: My wife is an Italian from the Bronx. She cooks by taste and has no recipes. Her food is always amazing and she is extremely judgmental when it comes to food. We live in the DFW area and we are visiting for the 4th of July. MERICA. My wife said they had good reviews on the Google machine.
Sienna and Daniel were very helpful and provided excellent service. Amazing experience from the moment we walked in.
We ordered an 18" cheese pie and an order of zeppoles. We didnt look at the menu before we ordered. To my amazement, Sienna knew exactly what zeppoles were. Being from Dallas, there is only one place i know of that sells zeppoles, and they arent on the menu. They are hard to find and i always ask for them, regardless. Sienna even knew to ask if we wanted them after our meal. That was awesome, cuz yes, they are best when fresh out of the oil.
The sauce was very flavorful and my wife gave her approval (not trying to sound like an ass, but thats hard to get lol). The crust was crispy, not doughy or overcooked. It was perfect. Almost at the end of our pie, Sienna asked if we were ready for our zeppoles. Yes. They came out in a paper bag, friggin YES! Thats how you do it! You could smell the fresh oil and its at this point my wife and i absolutely knew we picked the right spot. The zeppoles were perfectly round and my wife said they put too much effort into making them lol! She just pulls hers off the dough and chunks em in the oil lol! Man these things were good, id eat them with every meal if i could!
I dont write many reviews, but i felt like this place was so good i needed to tell the google lol! Thank you guys for bringing a little bit of home while we're away from home. If we're ever this way again, we're absolutely coming...
Read moreWe’ve been looking for a good pizza place since we moved down here, and recently saw someone recommend RC’s in a Facebook group. We were a few miles away so swing by for dinner this evening. While it’s a bit of a drive from home, we will definitely be back!! The service was excellent from the time we walked in the door. Staff was friendly, provided recommendations and enthusiastically took our order. We were offered to go cups for self serve drinks which we accepted. As usual, we ordered way too much food which worked in our favor as we had plenty of leftovers to enjoy tomorrow! We started with 6 wings - hot. OMG from the first bite I knew I’d found my place for wings - they’re double fried (I know, so bad for you but taste so good which is why we only had 3 each) and the hot is not too spicy at all days my husband who doesn’t do spicy. Seriously, I could’ve eaten 10, but I try not to and we had tons of other food coming. The NY style pizza was perfectly cooked - the crust was cooked, not too brown, and the cheese was nostalgic to my childhood. My dads a native New Yorker and very particular about his cheese pizza, tans I will confidently bring him to RCs on his next visit as I know he’ll approve. My husband asked when we’d back as he loved the veal parmigiana. So, even though it’s a 45 minute drive from our house, y’all have a lifelong (well for as long as we live down here) customer is our household!! Highly recommend - I don’t even know what we’ll order next time as we want to try more of the menu but know what we had was soooooo good. These are the kind of problems one...
