I had forgotten that this place had opened in the last year as I rarely venture over towards “new Baytown” along the highway 146 / I-10 corridor.
A buddy of mine from the Clear Lake area stopped by to watch the divisional round of NFL playoff games and wanted to go somewhere to get some food and catch the late game. He opened Google maps and saw Walk-On, said the one by his house is always packed and asked if I had ever been. I told him I had never been and had forgotten it was even there and had only noticed it on a trek out I-10 east for a casino run.
First impressions: the place is huge and immaculately clean. Parking lot was full (pro-tip: you can find parallel parking spaces on the I-10 side that are by the outdoor patio and steps from the front door) We were greeted and seated immediately. The main dinning and bar area is a vast room and every table / seat has unobstructed views of multiple tvs. Each exterior side of the 4-sided bar has a massive video wall (8 large TVs linked seamlessly to create each one) with additional screens on the interior sides of the bar and lining the walls. I counted 25 large screens plus the 32 that created the massive screens. The audio of the main game / match is played throughout and the sound is clean / clear and at an appropriate level. For public sports broadcast viewing, this is the best set-up I’ve ever seen.
Service was on point - and I hate that I can’t remember the young girls name - other than she was under 21, had a cool yet subtle tattoo on her neck and had been a hostess for a short minute at Spanky’s and was terminated because she punched a drunk customer, that had threatened her & lunged towards her, in the face!
Anyway, service was great - made recommendations and suggestions from the menu when we ordered and was attentive throughout service. Food and drinks were above par for a venue like this … definitely an elevated version of BWW … much more elevated! I don’t often venture out to a public venue to watch sports - my living room often offers a much better experience - but I’d return...
Read moreIf you are in your 20's or 30's and looking to meet a date, or have a party with your bro's, this is the place for you. It is a half step down from Hooters. The atmosphere of waitresses in super short skirts, beer beer beer beer beer beer and "meh/ok" food is the "hooters" crowd which is what I think they are angling for.
The servers and staff were EXCELLENT. They knew what they were doing and were very kind.
They are so good they tried very hard to overcorrect an accident. They were so "slammed by a 30 person party", (direct quote from the waitress). . . . that they missed our appetizer order. We told them no worries, just cancel the order. She said she will bring it, we said no thank you. Someone from the kitchen came and said they were sorry and would get it to us right away, we said no thank you. A gorgeous, I mean stunning woman who was the manager came and apologized and said they would get it out to us, we said thank you, please don't as we are half done with our meal.
For us ancient old folk. this isn't what you are looking for. You cant hear your conversation over the pulsating music and you lose your conversation by the distraction of the TikToks on the big screens.
Maybe there are some good dishes on the menu, surely there are but the bayou pasta I got was not it. A handful of little fried shrimp was thrown on top of some pasta that was so salty It could not possibly have been made from scratch. Thank you WalkOns for the smattering of fried pickles mixed with the fried shrimp, an accident I am sure, but I now know that the fried pickles are ok.
Maybe in the future if I am in a pinch I might stop by for a to-go of fried pickles or some tacos for a Friday night, but for a meal in a restaurant, this just isn't my cup of tea.
But again, if you are in your 20s and 30s . . .yes this is your ideal place. And again, the staff were incredibly well...
Read moreWe returned and found out they have opened up more happy hour options - all before 6pm. This is a great change.
$1 off beer $5 margaritas appetizers on special price Burger sliders 2 $4 Boudin balls Fried pickles Queso Spinach dip
The beignet burgers are yummy, very good.
The chicken tenders are great, fresh not frozen.
Burgers are fantastic, in slider or main menu style.
Love!!! Drinks are delicious, food is phenomenal. Atmosphere is fun without being too loud music wise. A nice place to hang out. Husband and I come here once to twice a week. Prices reasonable on some things and a high on others things but who’s aren’t right now.
The happy hour burger sliders (2 for $4) are very good.
If you get a chicken sandwich they come with two chicken breasts, you can add an extra bun when ordering so we split one into two sandwiches.
Another trip tried the gumbo and steak sandwich, the gumbo was good and steak sandwich was a let down.
My daughter loves the tenders.
The mini beignet dessert is delicious and flaky.
The cajundillas with red beans and rice are good we’re good one time and terrible the next. Very soggy tortillas on the quesadilla with mushy insides and the beans had a weird smell and taste and were hard.
We got take out recently and I remembered to take photos. The fries have too much seasoning, way too salty. My takeout gumbo was supposed to be a bowl, I didn’t think it was very much for a bowl serving at $11. It was tasty though. You can see the size reference beside the ketchup packets. It wasn’t too full of rice which I appreciate but I’d rather the rice on the side. It was $60 for 2 sandwiches, the tender meal,...
