Our family had been traveling on vacation. We stopped at the only place we could find along the highway for, what seemed like might be good coffee. Walked in and it took a while to be greeted by staff. It was in the 90's outside so we made the decision to carry our small dog inside with our family of four, so as to not have to leave her in the hot car. We thought we'd be in and out quickly. (We didn't see the drive through when we pulled in or we would have used it.) We placed our order and waited, when receiving our order we were short one lid. I went to grab a lid and extra napkins from the counter when the owner (who had taken our orders, made our drinks, taken our money) came up behind me waving his hands around in the air and telling me to remove my dog away from their food (there wasn't food anywhere where we were standing). And then went on in a rant about how it was a restaurant and no pets allowed and "I don't know if it's a service dog or not but it shouldn't be here." My husband and I were both a bit shocked and taken back by the waving of hands and overall impoliteness, especially in front of our kids. We would have gladly obliged if we had been asked and shown, when we first walked in, the drive through, or even if he had been polite and offered to take our order on the patio instead so we don't bring the dog in. There were so many other ways he could have approached us about the dog. I get it, I personally have a number of years as a barista and coffee shop manager under my belt, but in the years I had worked in the business I had never been so rude and impolite to someone, nor had I ever witnessed other staff or employees treating customers that way. It was just sad and unfortunate. The coffee wasn't great, my iced mocha had a lot of espresso grinds at the bottom, I couldn't even drink it all. We won't go back, with or...
Read moreThere is a reason why Starbucks is so popular and has so many stores. They understand quality in their coffee product.
These small Oregon towns do not have a clue about good coffee. The most obvious characteristic that I have found lacking in the coffee that I have sampled over the last 18 hours traveling through these small towns in Oregon is that the coffee is usually barely warm and not steaming hot.
Secondly, they only offer standard roast. They assume that everyone is gonna like the medium or dark roast they serve.
Thirdly, they don’t understand their product. They don’t understand the country it’s grown in and it’s flavor notes. Nor do they understand the roast.
If you are traveling through the small towns in Oregon, loving the countryside, save yourself some grief and just visit Starbucks. At least their product is consistent.
I really wanted to love all these coffee shops I have encountered since I left Idaho. But they continue to be a big disappointment. One coffee shop has the word java in its name and doesn’t even serve drip coffee.
These places really should just call themselves espresso bars because coffee is featured as a back up dancer and not as the store...
Read moreThis is disappointing 😞. We've been stopping here for a couple years on our way through. It's always been a nice place. Today though, there was a older man running the machine. He was very unfriendly and unkind. The man in front of me asked for a little extra cream in his coffee. The man ROLLED HIS EYES! My husband and I then placed our order. It was about $20. As the girl was making my smoothie I said I forgot to add an extra shot. He told me it was too late! So after I got my smoothie I spent $3 for another shot. To add a shot to a drink as an extra is only $1. But I was made to pay the $3. THEN, after my husband put the dog in the car he ran back in to use the restroom. The old man HARRASSED HIM! He implied my husband needed to buy something!! We had already spent $23. We left feeling very sad at the way this man treats people. I will be finding another coffee stop on our regular...
