The Dalles Wasco County Library — Attraction in The Dalles

The Dalles library is by far the LOUDEST library I have ever been in. Do not bother trying to study there. This library does not enforce any type of quite environment. Kids run around playing and screaming while adults are conversing loudly and laughing at full volume. When a librarian was asked about this situation, she said there was nothing she could do about it. Since when did the library become the new coffee shop chatting spot? It is the responsibility of the librarians to enforce a quiet environment, but good luck with that. And good luck trying to read or study without becoming completely frustrated due to constant loud laughter and children screaming. The Dalles library is the best! Tons of books, good selection of DVDs to rent (which is very convenient) and best if all is the kids area. Cute set up, we love to go weekly to play, check put some books and use the little computers. The ladies working are always so kind, especially the newest lady (sorry, i dont know her name). This is a fantastic small-town library!! They have so many programs and activities for kids, teens, and even some activities for adults. The children's area is a lot like a children's museum with all the different exhibits. The staff is helpful and friendly.
