Normally I never do restaurant reviews. But, I was very disappointed in Momma Janes on 6/27/19. My husband and I were traveling on our way to Spokane. This restaurant wasn't very busy at the time (about 7 tables occupied). We placed our food orders . About 25-30 minutes later the waitress came to tell me they did not have the peach topping for my pancakes. No problem. I chose Blueberries as an alternate. Then, about 10-15 minutes later the waitress came to announce they were out of the potato salad that my husband had ordered with his sandwich. We are fairly flexible, but by now we have waited a good 45 minutes for our food. The part that was MOST UPSETTING was that a local business woman came into the restaurant about 30 minutes after we had arrived and she ordered 2 rush orders of potato salad because she was in a BIG HURRY. Well, my husband and I got to watch her eat her Rush Order of Potato Salad. Then, our waitress "sheepishly" had to tell us that they were out of potato salad. At that point, I was ticked off. Honestly, I lost my appetite, and just wanted to pay for the uneaten food that we had ordered, and leave the restaurant. The fact that the restaurant was out of 2 of our food choices was bad enough. But, to prioritize a LOCAL customer over and above other customers was offensive and maddening. Add insult to injury, the waitress said they would deduct the cost of our coffee and iced tea from the bill. Really ? How generous of your...
Read moreWe walked in and asked if we could be put on a wait list for our larger group. The hostess/waitress was an older woman with blondish hair and bangs. Our group was very nice and respectful. But this hostess was disrespectful off the bat. She loudly, and embarrassingly, told us to “wait outside” for her to call us. Along with other rude demands. Which we did immediately, however it was her demeanor and demanding tone that was very shocking. Our racially mixed group felt that her remarks were very pointed and aggressive toward us. Once we were waiting outside for a few minutes, she came outside and asked, “Can you sit at different tables or do you need to be together?” We said, “We would prefer together, but whatever is easiest.” She replied, “You’re gonna do whatever I tell you to do.” As soon as those words came out of her mouth, we knew we were not welcome. After she went back inside, I followed her in to let her know we decided to go somewhere else. As the only white member of our group; I found it interesting that she was relatively respectful to me when I spoke to her one on one… while she was wildly disrespectful to the other men and women in our group. Because of this, I would absolutely not recommend this establishment. This woman needs to be spoken to by management about her absolute lack customer service, as well as how to treats people who are kind and patient with her. If the owner has any question about our experience, please feel free...
Read moreI want to start this off by saying, I have never felt inclined to write a bad review for any place. But my experience at this establishment frustrated me and my boyfriend so much that I had to. First off, service took 40 minutes. I understand sometimes things take time but the people who sat down near us AFTER us got their food and left BEFORE us. We ordered two pancakes and French toast, things that should not take that long to cook compared with the more complicated egg and sausage dishes of our neighbors. When we got our food one pancake was hot and fluffy but I could tell the other had been hastily made and sitting out. We are convinced that the reason behind our poor service was racially or politically motivated, so that is also why I want to make my experience known. When it came time for the bill, the first suggested option was 18%, which pressured my boyfriend into tipping that much. That is not ok. Even if we had good service, their food is mediocre at best, honestly something you could make in your own household. Do not go here if you are young or a BIPOC. Even if the reasons for the slowness weren’t racially/politically motivated, there were many many workers there, enough for a good service, and they appeared very disorganized. There did not seem to be clear cut ordered tasks the staff had to run the restaurant. I also couldn’t sense any sort of motion they cared about their craft. You are better off going to a Denny’s or iHop for...
