This was my third, and final time coming to Kpot. J truly expected improvement, but their service has remained consistently worse and worse. The first time i came here with just my partner, we got on the wait which was about 45 minutes. We go out and wait in the car and then come 40 mins later, we received nothing so we decide to go and wait inside. To our dismay, it is 8:45, almost 2 hours before they close and their doors are locked. We got a hosts attention and explained that we were already on the waitlist, fortunately they seat us. The first time we were there, our server was AMAZING. She was friendly and helpful despite the ipad not functioning. She was attentive and very nice. This was a great experience and it overshadowed the technical issues we experienced.
The second time, we encouraged a friend to join us, hyping up the Korean BBQ AND hot pot place we had recently discovered. We all went, but got seated in an unpleasant booth by the front door that was open and cold and asked to be moved, to which we were moved to a booth in the back right outside the entrance to the restroom. This was unpleasant but we decided not to pursue it any further. We ordered our food, the ipads were working today, but they were out of a key menu item: Bulgogi. That was a shame, but we still enjoyed the food, and we also got pina coladas and they were delicious and memorable. The service was very sub par and the server scarcely checked in on us.
The last and most recent time can be the deciding factor on whether we return or not. We got seated around 8:45, get to our table and meet our server, Abby. She was nice and friendly and we told her we had been before and were familiar with using the ipad. We also decide to order the pina coladas again since we enjoyed them last time. We are able to place one order before the ipad stops working. We explain to our server and she does a bit of it magic and we can place another order, but we are still only able to place one order before it stops functioning. We were told that the wifi was down and that was causing our issue with the wifi. About 9:10, we still havent received our drinks so we ask and check on that, to which the server promtly seemed to have fogotten and goes to get them. Unfortunately these pina coladas have no pina, and we return them. About 10 mins later as we are placing an additional order and encounter ipad struggles, we ask our server and she tells us that its last call for the kitchen at 9:20, 70 mins before they close. Of course we feel rushed and keep attempting to place orders. We see another couple just get seated and come to realize the server may just want us out of her section to get cut. This rush with all the technical difficulties and feeling pushed out made us feel like we needed to communicate our experience with a manager. Since there wasnt a manager on duty, we spoke to Lam, another server who pretended to hear us and would only give 20% off. What a joke. He never really acknowledged the issues we faced and continuously brushed us off. My friends and i work in restaurant management and the service recovery and guest experience was awful. Thanks for taking the time to read my experiences. I hope yours are better or that you just...
Read moreThis is such a great dining experience. For those of you who have never eaten at this kind of restaurant, you get to grill your own food at your table. You order raw meats and veggies from a tablet, and they bring them out to you within a couple of minutes. Then you put them on the grill that's in the middle of the table. It is a "communal" style dining, and in my opinion, it's a great option for groups of 4-6. We usually order a variety, with input from everyone in our group, and then share so everyone gets a bit of everything if they want. You keep grilling as you eat, and you can order as many rounds as you want. You can do just the BBQ, Hot Pot, or both options for $5 more per person. We always do both. For Hot Pot, you choose a soup base from 8 options. My favorite is Healthy Herbs. Another popular choice among my group is Thai Tom Yum, which is a little spicy. You get a big pan of the soup base of your choice, and you cook your meats and veggies in it, using a burner in the table. Everyone gets their own burner, so you get to customize your own soup, and if you do both options, grill on the communal grill and then add grilled ingredients to your soup base. The options are endless! We usually share soup bases in bowls they bring you so you can try out different soup bases to see if you like it for next time. There are lots of meat and veggie options on the menu, including beef, pork, chicken, as well as some seafood. Some of the meats are marinated. Our favorites are the Spicy Beef Bulgogi and the KPot Short Ribs. There is also an extensive sauce bar, so you can mix and match sauces to your heart's content. There are also some items in the sauce bar area like egg rolls and sesame balls, which have a sweet red bean paste inside. I love the sesame balls! And oh my goodness, the Kimchee is some of the best! It is spicy, so be warned if spicy isn't your thing, but it's not so spicy that your tongue goes numb. I like to spoon some of my soup over rice and then add a little of the Kimhee. I love this place! I've been to the location in Overland Park, KS, and more recently, the location in Thornton, CO (near Denver). Both...
Read moreI took my 2 children here for lunch and the food was really good. We had never done Korean BBQ or Hot Pot prior, so I do not have anything to compare it to. Len, our waitress was so informative, accommodating, and patient with us. She explained the process thoroughly and checked in on our table regularly. I will say there were several lunch options, and everything we had was delicious and extremely fresh! I chose the spicy sichuan broths for my hot pot and let me tell you, it was very spicy, it over powered my meat and veggies. I probably would not choose that one again, but I can see why people would. It was full of flavor. Len told me after that I should have removed the spicy red peppers at the beginning, and it would have regulated the heat better. My son chose the miso, and my daughter chose the healthy one, and they both loved theirs. You can't go wrong with the spicy beef bulgogi either. Mmmmm, it was great paired with the grilled pineapple. I recommend paying the extra $5 to do the grill and hot pot. It broadens your food choices quite a bit.
I would recommend going with older children. I struggled a bit with my 7 year old, and she is well behaved and self sufficient, but we had some close calls with the hot surfaces and boiling hot pot, which is to be expected.
As for recommendations for this restaurant, they need to do something about the ventilation. Once everyone starting grilling, the air became extremely smokey and dense. I could see somone with breathing issues having some problems in that atmosphere. Also, the food runners tend to forget to bring some of your items out and they seem a bit frantic. I almost was run over by one of their carts, LOL. But they were extremely busy and they were running around like crazy! All in all they were doing great!
I really hope this place keeps up the good work with the exceptional service and deliciously fresh food.
