The place was busy when I arrived. No seats available at the "track" so I sat in the booth. I got harassed a little because I was by myself, taking up a whole booth. But I wasn't going to sit elbow-to-elbow with other people right next to me. So there was no choice but the booth. They probably need to learn not to harass good paying customers. Aside from that, there were several things that bothered me. First, every 4th plate was sliced up pieces of watermelon. Not sure why there was watermelon in early March but whatever. The problem is that it looks almost exactly like slices of Tuna. Only AFTER you've pulled it off the belt do you realize that you're going to be eating FRUIT and not sushi. In general, there was WAY too much fruit on the track anyway. Blueberries, strawberries, Melons, and more. I came to eat Sushi and I don't mind having some fruit available too. But there was way too much Fruit and not enough Sushi. They had no Tuna on the entire track. So I had to ask for that. Which, in my opinion, is pathetic. That should always be out and available at a sushi place. No smoked salmon either. When I did ask for smoked salmon, I was provided with a plate of CHOPPED UP smoked salmon. Not quite how I usually get it at other places, but it did taste pretty good. I just don't like it all chopped up. It made it look like dog food. The tamago (egg omelet) was WAY too sweet. And I questioned if it was made there or came from a box. Because it looked manufactured, not made from scratch. And didn't taste much better either. Service was non existent. I would have taken another soda pop. But nobody ever came around to ask me if I wanted another. I would have liked to get a check. But after 5 minutes of waiting for someone to stop by and ask if I needed a check, I finally just walked away from my table, up to the counter. No service at all. Overall, not real impressed. But it was cheap. So I guess if you're looking for cheap - this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI arrived with high hopes, as it had been recommended by a friend, and it was crowded, even at 7pm. Sadly, I was sorely disappointed. First, the service. Unfriendly and inefficient. I didn't see a single smile, and it took 10 minutes to get a glass of water. It was crowded, but not THAT busy. Then the food - I feel I had reasonable expectations, with my comparison points being Bluefin in downtown Portland and Sushi Land. Unfortunately, even those expectations were not met. I know, I know, you get what you pay for, but Bluefin charges less per plate, and I would pick their sushi over this any day. Let's start with the rice - it was dry, not very sticky, and utterly void of flavour. It didn't even taste of rice. How do you even manage that?? The fish - quite obviously not fresh, and definitely of lower quality. None of luscious flavour one would hope for in raw fish. I'm not saying it had gone bad, by any means, I'm just saying it would have been better used with some lemon, dill, and a grill. Despite the number of people, turnover was low on food - I saw many of the dishes go past me many times - as in they were on the belt when I got there and on the belt when I left. Not similar dishes, but the exact dish, just going round and round, getting dried out and coughed on. Even things as simple as the garnish - the tempura flakes used to top some of the rolls were stale - we're talking unexpected tooth pain stale. Not. Good. If you're in the mood for this style of sushi, and in that area, I would recommend finding the nearest Sushi Land and not bothering with this place. Even at their pretty reasonable prices, the food just...

I don't know what kind of respectable business lets people walk in off the street, not wash their hands, walk over to a server's table, grab to go boxes and start helping them themselves to the conveyor belt while customers patiently sit. Waiting to be seated... Sounds like a filthy establishment for me and definitely not someplace that I want to give my money to. Absolutely disgusted and disappointed with this sushihana. The other locations are way better quality and way more attentive to what's going on in their lobby than to let strange unwashed unemploymented folks come in to help them themselves while paying customers wait. I've already reported to other locations how they are far superior to the Washington square location, but tonight solidifies that I will never give another dollar to that filthy unkept establishment. There are so many better choices if you want fresh food and attentive service and members that care about the safety of your dining experience. This restaurant is...
